I'm a Mobile Detailer (11 years) in Tampa, FL. Here's a tip for drying the vehicle at a much faster rate. If you don't have access to a shaded area, after rinse, spray Turtle Wax spray wax lightly all over. It acts like a rinse aid. Majority of the water will slide off. Then use either a microfiber cloth, microfiber towel or Waffle towel to dry the vehicle. The vehicle will vehicle spotless with a thin coat of wax.

A slightly damp microfiber towel has better absorbency than a dry one. Also a good drying aid will make a world of difference and help keep lubricity to minimize scratches while drying.

To start off Sadan Car: $40 in $40 out Suv: $50 in $50 out These are just beginner prices because it takes longer at the beginning to get a car until you find your groove. Also to insure the customer that you will be needing there car for at minimum 4 hours but as you get your groove it mite take you less time to get the job done. I remember it took me 7hrs to get two cars done so remember take your time in learning because if you rush you're done for

I’m a mobile detailer in North Carolina here are some tips. Mjjc foam cannon is on of the best. Any soap it would make super thick suds. Another option is buying a cheap amazon foam cannon and changing the internals (orifice and filter) In the vacuum portion, use the crevice tool, more suction and control. For drying use a ceramic spray wax (any brand would do the same) after rinsing the soap then rinse again. It would make the water bead and easy to absorb into a goo towel (I use wolly mammoths from CG) Good sources for products and techniques: Detail geek Mad detailing Detail groove Imjoshv Ammo nyc And a lot more! Good luck and have fun!

"FREE" Foam cannon - Make sure you are using foam cannon soap, and different ratios for different soaps (read instructions for best results...who does that? lol) 2 bucket wash (wash/rinse) Drying: Microfiber towels Carpet cleaning - Spray carpets directly with APC cleaner, drill brush, and use extractor (water only - 2 direction pattern) Hustle Hard!!

Okay, I just finished the video. Every location is different so here's my 2 cents. I'm in a middle class area. My rule of thumb is that I won't come out the house unless I make at least $50‐$60. A few turn away when I say $60 for a wash and basic interior clean. They say, there's a guy at the gas station that'll do it for $45. That's perfectly fine with me. I charge for the most part $55-$60 a hour but it fluctuates depending on the situation. I don't tell the customer that's how much I charge. I charge on a estimate on how long it'll take me to complete. Majority of the time I'm right. Sometimes, I get done faster and that's better for me. And sometimes, I take a L but that happens. Yes, you should start low and then gradually increase your price. More equipment and chemicals you buy, your prices has to increase to accommodate for that. You will be broke for a while until you have everything you need and receive more customers. Google was a blessing for my business. I started out charging $15 a hour 10 years ago. 15 went to 20, 20 went to 30...etc. You also have to be aware of fellow detailers. Go online and see what are their prices and what includes. Talk to other detailers that detail cars at the gas station. People always tell me watch out for your competition. Competition? They're not my competition. They're my brothers. We share something in common and we're good at it. Every detailer in my area are very cool. We share knowledge, horror stories, tricks and techniques. That's how you grow from your business. Always ask questions and perhaps work a day or 2 with a detailer to see what it's like and pick up a thing or 2. I can say a lot more but it'll be a overload. I really hope this helps!!!

I have been a detailer for 6 months now, at my local GM dealership (Chevy, Buick, GMC) and I am hoping to start up my mobile business. However, I'm not sure how long cleanings should take typically. When we clean brand new cars for delivery/ pick up. We are given 1 hour to complete it, a bronze cleaning (vacuum, tires and glass) 1.5 hours. And gold - platinum can range from 3-6 hours. However, I find myself taking sometimes a full 8 hours to complete the gold/platinum. I'm feeling incompetent on starting my own, however i feel as if i dont make the jump, ill be working for someone else for the rest of my life... I live in Canada's salt belt as well.

As someone who has been detailing for at least 2 years i will say these things. 1 the foam cannon isnt the problem you might be using not enough soap or the wrong soap you will want a snow foam for the foam cannon and make sure it is Ph balanced. 2 Make sure to get a microfiber drying towel. 3 you will want a bug remover to help get bugs off the front. Hope that helps.

im not mobile, i work for a dealership but here's something. if u invest in a good wheel cleaner, preferably a wheel acid. most of the time if u spray and let it soak u don't need to spend a whole bunch of time brushing it, just pressure washing it off will make the wheels clean asf. and this is coming from 100s of cars worth of experience

Hey, I own a detailing business…using a drying aid will help out with a large sucker drying towel, or I use Koch chemise nano magic snow foam and it leaves 3 months of protection onto the paint, acts like a wax with great hydrophobic properties….. then use a leaf blower and the water will bead right of the paint then go back with a towel to get anything missed, hope this helps 👍

My 2 cents. Chemical guys is a very low tier quality product for a premium price, a good affordable product that most detailers actually use is P&S. 1 Gallon of their soap with can be diluted 1:5 is 25 dollars. Foam Cannon isn't a necessity but it's good for not allowing to dry in hot sun so you can hand wash, I would recommend MJJC for thick suds. As far as drying, get yourself a dedicated 1-2 drying towels, but also a spray sealant. We use Q2M Quartz Sealant and it essentially just makes the water into droplets and not stick on to the paint, after a sealant is applied a leaf blower will work much better. Hope this helps.

20 year mobile detail veteran here in Cali. We have always used hi quality chamois for drying. They won’t scratch paint and hold lots of water. If you plan on doing 3+ details a day, you’re going to need a good commercial pressure washer. You will need ionized water if you want a spot free rinse too (no water spots). Depending on laws in your area, you might need to collect your waste water. There are many different options for collecting your water.

you need to add a spray on wax to make the water bead up before you dry and even then you should use a blow dryer made for automative use to dry the car and help lessen the amount of water droplets the towel needs to absorb to dry the car. doing this will make the process easier and possibly faster.

I have a good sized detail business, ill personally do 3000 cars a year, amd each van will do about the same, so we perform about 9000 washes a year. . For drying: use the leaf blower, it's spreads the water and allows it to dry quicker. Focus on cracks and crevices so water isn't spilling out after you've finished the wash and final wipe. After the leaf blower, use a purpose made drying towel or shimmy to get the remainder of water. The foam: adjust the foam cannon tip to more of a fan shape spray, apply generously. Chemical guys makes great products but they're on the pricey side. Comparable products, are less money at detail supply stores. I do about a finger of soap and the rest water in my foamer. Charging: for a basic interior clean and exterior wash it's 75 Invest in a speedy stone or lily brush they are life savers for pet hair removal. PRO TIP: I use a diluted neutral air freshener, APC, water mix and mist the carpets and stripe them after vacuuming. It gives a luxury detail look for even our cheapest wash packages and customers LOVE it

Chemical Guys are very low-class in the detailing industry. Their products are very overpriced and watered down. Meguiars is an extremely great company for details. They are just about at the detailing level if not there. Another company I would recommend is sudzbox. They have extremely good chemicals with extremely well-priced bundles I highly recommend. Tips Once you drop a towel trash it, once you drop a microfiber towel it will collect anything on the ground such as small rocks that will scratch paint or rims. For Streak-free windows, I would get a waffle weave towel. Recommend a set of wheel brushes instead of using the small detail brushes. You will save lots of time using a bigger brush. For Pet hair, I would get a pet hair stone, rubber brush or drill brush kit. (You can upcharge for pet hair removal as it will take extra time) Trim restore from meguiars is also a very good thing to keep around to bring out faded trim. A headlight restore kit is also a good thing to get as it can be used as an upcharge. Leaving small things in the car such as candy and an air freshener. This will always be a reminder of you to them. (its the thought of the gift that counts) For drying the car I would get a big drying towel mixed with spray wax. The wax will allow for a layer on top of the paint. Water will glide off as you spray the wax and allow a streak-free and shiny finish. Let the foam do the work for you, rinse the car, spray the car with soap, and let soap drip off the car. As it's dripping off the car any loose dirt will come off. Rinse off soap foam in the car then go in for your hand wash.
