What's going on everyone, this video is a quick recap of how to start a roof and gutter cleaning business.
If you can't tell, it's pretty darn simple and that's how I want to keep it. You really can get started with little to no tools and start making some great money TODAY.
Obviously be safe out there folks, make sure you're roping up when needed, and never do a job or go on a roof if you're not 100% comfortable with it. There will always be other jobs, makes no sense to risk it if it doesn't feel right.

For steep roofs you could actually invest in a pitch hopper I clean steep roofs and those pitch hoppers are a LIFE SAVER. They make the job SOOOOO much easier AND faster. Pitch hoppers have foam on the bottom so they stick to the roof when you apply weight to them

@@SpencerClaeys definitely worth investing we use them all the time. You could go on 12/12 roofs without a problem and even jump on those things and they won't slip

What do you do if you get a job and you don’t see that they have gutter guard until after you’ve made a deal do you just clean the top of the gutter or do you remove the guard and clean inside the gutter

Don’t use a brush on shingles. Use the leaf blower from the top down.

That's it, been following you a few weeks and i already have the stuff, pressure sprayer, brush, broom, electric leave blower, cords, and a 10ft ladder, gonna need a bigger ladder. Even have rock climbing gear. Only question is how do I get leads without footage or any leads, I'd do my own roof if i had a taller ladder. Should I just start knocking on doors in my neighborhood that look gnarly?

I’d like to do gutters. Likely stick to a bucket, blower and ladder. Depending on second story roofs, how could I lightly decline service if not comfortable with going that high or if it’s very steep? I’d like to be a safe as possible and also have some sort of training for tying a line or harnessing up when needed. Looking to be solo so keeping safe is number 1. I wouldn’t want a reputation to decline too much work though. What are your thoughts? I can find many areas that are single story here in FL.

Yeah man just have as many leads as you want is the key, never do any roof you’re not comfortable with, I turn down jobs all the time

Your best to talk to a professional adviser, lawyer or tax official. Maybe call legal zoom to get an idea on what you should do. Insurance is general liability. Maybe aim for a million dollar policy. Whatever makes sense to you and your business.

@@DippedInTheSauce No problem! Also check your state laws. If you remain sole proprietor you can either use your social or obtain an EIN number for your business. S Corp, LLC, Inc etc all have different aspects to what is beneficial for your business as well as taxes. I believe most choose LLC for the tax benefits, but some businesses have went to S Corp instead. Look up each form, write down questions, speak with a tax rep and legal zoom (they may even have some blog post info on their website about these differences. Then check with your state on the process and fees to get it done. I believe a business license in your state is registering your business name. Btw how long you been doing your business?

There’s also plenty of single story homes around but I also don’t know how to respond if requested for a two story. Some have roofs you can get on from the lower tier while others don’t. Not sure I want to go that high while starting out. Also - what do the numbers mean when it comes to the slope of a roof and how can you tell which roof equals what?
