I took some notes and I am going to start my own. I run a tarot blog for like ten years now but surprisingly have a very boring tarot log of my spreads, meanings and readings. Over the years I've kept different system ones like playing cards or oracles. I think it would be fun to try digitally on Goodnotes also since it is very easy to make a collage out of any photo you find online. See, the bulb is lit. Off I go.

I bought your Tarot Bound e-book, and I am creating my first Tarot deck specific journal so that I can get a better bond with the deck. I'm almost done pasting in a copy of all the cards that I printed out and it has been really fun. A ton of the pocket printers use receipt paper and heat printing so be super careful what you get if you get one. Heat printing will disappear if your journal gets to a certain temp depending on handling and weather conditions.

Absolutely beautiful, Dawn! 😊 I'm currently trying to revamp the tarot journaling practice I previously had. I recall when I would use different decks every day for several different Instagram challenges and, overtime, that wore me out from continuing to tarot journal in general. So, now, I decided to take it slow and study a tarot deck for the time being. 🙂

Thank you, yet again! I've learned so much from this video. I'm dyslexic so I make lots of mistakes... I've learned to ignore most of them, but when you get a thick blotchy word mess, it needs correcting. I'd never heard of white-out tape (it's in my Amazon cart now, along with washi tape rolls and your book!). The only disk bound journal I could find here in the UK, was by Eagle and has annoying boxes for titles at the head of each page and their logo in the footer. So I've been paper crafting and using large washi stickers on each page (header and footer) and I must say, I love the result. Also popped a pocket printer into my Amazon basket too, so I'm excited to see how it works.

I have a HP Sprocket pocket printer and I would say the quality of the image and true to colour is not as good as what you get with your regular printer. Also the cost per print is high. I like it for the occasional print but I might need to get a proper printer one of these days... if I can find somewhere to put it! Thanks for this video. Lovely work as always.

Thank you so much Dawn for your inspiring videos! I watch tons of the Mod with Me videos and love them! But this Tarot journal series really has my heart as a lifelong journal keeper. I dove into Tarot in January like a mad witch and proceeded to acquire an undisclosed number of decks, all gorgeous (with many re-homed and more to re-home!) but my Tarot journaling practice is sort of a hot mess as you say. It looks more like the Commonplace journal with a mishmash of spreads, lists, class notes, etc. This series is helping me decide that I would like to be more clear and focused in my journaling so that I can actually look back and see how things have progressed as well as bring my creative side into the mix. SO thanks for this series and all that you do for the Tarot scene. with love, a fellow Portlander! Maybe I'll see ya at New Ren in the journal section sometime!

I am so glad that you found it helpful! I'm always tweaking my journaling practice, but I find having different books for different things is helpful for me. I added a braindump/commonplace insert to my main planner/journal so that I could still have a place to dump things because I've found I need that! But I like my working journals to be focused when I can because it keeps my brain in order. (I have a fun video coming in Oct on my other tarot/deck journals you might enjoy!) I love this series, thank you for so generously sharing your experiences and advice, Dawn Michelle. I've got one of the tiny printers with sticker paper - I think Lisa Papez showed a... Polaroid? Canon? - she uses and I was absolutely enthralled by the idea. It was one of those things where the idea trumped the reality because I rarely make time to invest into learning about a deck. Instead, I do a quick spread, and use a lazy hybrid of digital and paper journaling. I take a picture of each spread and upload with a descriptive title and date to my Google Drive. Then I journal about it in Drive or write something on a sticky note or worse, just leave it in my head. Ridiculously disorganized. smh. Sorry, ramble / rant over. 8-) Onwards to your "How to trim a deck" video!

Loving this series now that I've finally gotten down to watching it! I love the visual nature of your journals, but have become very minimalist in terms of physical stuff, so I'm working on a whole setup in Notion where I can do gallery views with card and deck images and kind of recreate the fun creative feel without actually picking up a pen 🙂

Love this series! I use Pixlr as a free online photoshop alterative and it works wonderfully. I'm also thinking about a pocket printer for my practice. I mean, how awesome would it be to add pictures of spreads, altar set ups, or just pictures of your spellwork into your magical journals?! My mother has a HP sprocket and uses is all the time for her planner. I did notice that the colours are just a little bit off, but I'm not sure if that is because of the sprocket, or because of my mom's skills in making pictures... lol!

Just use a regular inkjet printer you buy at Walmart making sure that the ink cartridges have 4 -5 separate color cartridges, these printers tend to be around the $100 range. The printables aren’t going to be that much more different then a more high end printer especially if you’re using the correct paper, these types of printers I have found to work perfectly for digital ephemera. You can purchase refillable cartridges on eBay (or use a drill to make a small hole in the cartridge when your ink is low to refill) and buy printer ink bottles from eBay and you’ll have unlimited printing!!!
