For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

I’ve had this same Hyper Tough weed eater for going on 3 years. Still runs great, even after I accidentally put 4 cycle fuel in it last year and ran it for a while before it died. I cleaned it out, got it back up and running and haven’t had an issue. I guess I got a good one. It’s been worth the money for sure. Been running SEF premixed 2 cycle fuel in it since “the incident.”

I guess I just got lucky. I've had this same weed eater for 5 years and it still runs great, using it when it's time to trim for at least 1 hour each week. I am just now having a little problem with it. It starts and idles fine but will not fully go into wide open mode. I think it's just because I'm using fuel that is a couple of years old. I bought a new spark plug, I'm going to change that and put all new fuel mixture in and hopefully that will fix the problem. If not, my next step will be to do this on this video. I will put in an edit to let you know! Thanks for this video! I am a 62 yr old lady, was a machinist for most of my early adulthood years, so not afraid to tackle this. Wish me luck!!

What a pain in the butt! Mine is about 3 years old, but only worked the first summer, so I thought I'd try to fix it. I don't know if I will, but your word of wisdom was not lost on me about taking pictures while taking apart! A few months ago, I took a Hoover stick vac apart to rewire what I knew had an electrical short....seemed easy enough, right? Well a gazillion steps into it, I realized I WAS a gazillion steps in, with no breadcrumbs thrown down to show me the way back! No available schematic online (or anywhere else), and after "messing" with it for days, I threw it away and bought the new assembly for it. It just never seems like it should be so freakin' convoluted. Lesson learned! Thanks for telling your viewers to take those pics and thanks for your video!

I designed a 5 gallon gas backpack for this MTD trimmer. I found out the hard way that if you shut it down that means that you should have given it away BEFORE you shut it off as they don't start once they're more than one day old. I'm on my second one and it is sitting in the basement right now, running. The weeds should need trimming in a couple of days so hopefully, there will still be some fuel left in the backpack, although it is much lighter with only half a gallon in it.

Thanks for the video! I can't understand something: You repeatedly said you don't recommend this Hyper Tough string trimmer. Yet, you also said earlier on that you purchased 3 of these within the past 4 years. What's up with that??? I also bought 3 of these at Walmart. One I paid $45 for one of them as an open box special. I used it for one season and beat the hell out of it! It was hard to start and I cracked the bumper part of the string feeder (good luck finding this part at Walmart!). These trimmers are made by MTD in Mexico. They make several several other string trimmers as well. This trimmer was on my workbench until this afternoon. I found out that they have a limited 2 year warranty, so I took it to a warranty repair shop to get it working. I told the guy there to only fix it if it was under warranty. I had also purchased 2 more of these string trimmers last December. Walmart was clearing them out for $25 each brand new! I have not opened the boxes yet, but I might use them next season if all does not go well with the warranty on the other one. I agree, these are not well made. You get what you pay for in this case!

But I'm having the exact same symptom/s as other guy's stalling w/ a mind of it's own whenever it wants to. Inspected the back crank case area & it all looks fine, bearing, gasket & such. Put a new carb on it months ago & she used it some. Screen on top of carb was fine. Tested few days ago & it ran okay. Put a new Champion plug in, stalls w/ a mind of it's own & NO amount of carb adjustment prevents it from stalling when it wants to. Any ideas? - thanks

Just thinking (Don't know if it would help keep the carburettor clean or not). I've had mine for almost 2 years it works just fine but i use the fuel mixture instead of the oil and gas mixture
@bobhelmink18545 жыл бұрын
Greg Palafos did that fuel make it run better
@gregpalafos94315 жыл бұрын
Yes it did i used it as soon as i bought the weed eater
@RedfishInc4 жыл бұрын
Yeah no ethanol in the premixed, less gunking up of the carb. You can buy additives to deal with the ethanol in automotive gasoline if you dont want buy canned gas.
@GodCountryFamilyTrinity2 жыл бұрын
The other thing to remember is on them Walmart special weed eaters, you need to use non ethanol or less than 10% ethanol gas for your mixture or it'll gum up your carburetor super fast

I was able to get mine running for a few minutes but I couldn’t let off the throttle or it would stall. Eventually it wouldn’t start back up and was noticeably very hot. Any ideas?
@beachtroll83445 жыл бұрын
A couple of things you could try...clean the carburetor, change the spark plug, drain the fuel and put a clean mix in...Good luck!

I just bought a Murray leaf blower. I used it once and now I can't get it to start. The receipt got thrown out too. Guess I am stuck with it now.

It's unbelievable how companies sell products that are garbage

"It is always good to take a picture of the receipt with a phone, that helps, I know I did with mine. It's always good to know we have digital, we can probably do anything with digital these days." "I forgot to ask, is it a 2 stroke? The reason I ask is because I was told by one who fixes them that with 2 stroke engines they can be temperamental." "I got myself a new powered battery blower Ego and it's great, no mess, no fuss and does not require any service on it for now cause it is bran new."

What brands do you recommend?
@knightsedge73795 жыл бұрын
T Stewart-Rouse Echo Stihl Husqvarna Most people who use weed eaters a lot use these. Anything that cost less than $100 stay away from.

I watch you video men and got the same problem with my 225 echo, did exactly step by step and still not running bro.... What else you recommend besides get brand new one 😁
@beachtroll83445 жыл бұрын
I would try draining any fuel mix that's in the machine and then put in a clean/new fuel/oil mix...also check the air filter, it could be dirty..Good luck!

On the one I’m working on, one of the screws is way over tightened and the head of the screw is messed up.

Those are made by MTD. They are the exact same trimmer sold under the brands Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, Yard Machines, Remington and several house brands including Walmart's Hyper Tough. Are they acceptable trimmers if you take care of them? Absolutely. Do they compete against a Stihl or Echo? No but they are a great budget tier option for someone who just needs a trimmer.
@beachtroll83442 жыл бұрын
If you want a trimmer to rely on, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing one.

@@beachtroll8344 well I do have a Remington and with proper care it's been a solid runner for several seasons and counting.
@beachtroll83442 жыл бұрын
I’m just going by my past experience. First Murray I got 2-3 seasons out of it. ...2 more (Hyper Tough) I got less than 1 season and about 3 uses out of the last one.

Hi,I had the same problem with my Echo trimmer last week....I wasn’t paying attention when I added fuel/oil mixture and I overfilled it....When I pressed the primer bulb 6 or7 times it wouldn’t start.... It could just be flooded...Let it sit for a day and then try to start it, mine did finally start....Good luck!
