Founded as a non-profit in 2005, Connect Africa is a grass roots organization that helps villagers in different regions of Uganda who are struggling to support the children under their care. We work in communities that are often overlooked by larger organizations.
In 2005 the impact of the AIDS pandemic was acutely visible, resulting in many families with an elderly grandmother, auntie or older sibling as the sole provider for more than eight children. Paying educational fees was impossible as families struggled to provide even the basic necessities. We saw the need and our mission to foster and prompt self-sufficiency through vital education, micro loans and vocational skills training had its beginnings, echoing the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

We are a unique, community-based organization. We collaborate with individuals in the villages in which we work and are guided by their expertise and knowledge. Our approach allows us to connect the donor and the Ugandan recipient creating , personal, and long-lasting relationships.
