Hi! I some questions b4 I start an etsy shop and would very much appreciate it if you answered some c: 1) How does the WHOLE shipping process work (from getting the label to sending it out) if I chose to make the buyer pay for shipping. This is what I'm most scared of right now because I'm not sure how it works and would like a simple detailed explanation for it. Is there a way that will let ME ship it instead of having my parent drive me somewhere to ship it? My mom is upset that she might have to drive me to a post office, but there is a mail drop off box near my school that I could use if possible. 2) What ring light do you use, how much did it cost, and how should I make more aesthetically pleasing pictures (like on a bed/outdoors for example). 3) What is SKU and a Tariff number? Not super sure what those are and I think a Tariff number is required so I would like to know lol That's it, but btw I've made amigurumi and other crochet items for a long time so I'm excited to start a shop!

Hi! So with the shipping label, you can print it off directly from your home! Once a buyer buys an item, they also pay for shipping. After you print the label off the Etsy website, you can cut it out and tape it to your box. Then, you can put it in your mailbox and the mail carrier should pick it up when they deliver your mail! I’m out of time right now, but I’ll answer your other questions when I get back from church😅

@@gwendalbriantais9072 sorry for the late response, KZbin didn’t notify me. For the ring light, I got it off of Amazon for about $12-$15. Also, I didn’t have to get a tariff number because I do not ship to other countries outside of the US. SKU is a way to manage your inventory, but to be honest I don’t think it’s super important because I have never used it

It doesn’t cost you anything to ship from your mailbox, but it does when you bring it to the post office right?

Hi! Once a label is boughten, the post office doesn’t charge any extra. You can buy the label through Etsy, the post office website, or other sites. If you go to the post office you can buy the label there. They do not charge any extra to pick up from your mailbox! Hope this helps!

I always have the buyer pay for shipping, but it kind of depends on your product! A lot of my products are $10 or under, but if you had for example a $45 product, you may want to entice buyers by offering free shipping because it wouldn’t dig into your profits as much.

@@bellanano-u3q well it kind of depends! Those sound really cool, I would suggest looking at your competitors to see if their quality is similar, and adjust your prices depending on what you think would be a fair price!

I would suggest your parents bank account so the information lines up, (mine is connected to my parents) I’m not %100 sure, so you may want to double check, but you can probably use yours if you would like, I don’t think there would be any problems!

Etsy has a built in system for shipping on the website. All I have to do is print the label, stick it on the package, and put it in my mailbox. The buyer also pays for shipping.

It depends. If you know each other really well and trust each other, then it is probably ok. One of you will have to have the bank account information, but both of you can make changes to the shop if you share the password. I do see a lot of small businesses having family members help them, and sometimes friends. If both of you are committed, then it should be fine! I hope your business goes well!

As for legal things, I’d suggest just making sure you are prepared to pay income tax on your business every year (it’s about %15 for me but this can vary) also I’m not sure but some states might require a business license, most likely not for just selling online but you may want to check

It really depends on how long it takes you to make one, and how much your materials cost. I would suggest at least $3 or $4 each, because Etsy fees add up. (20 cent listing fee, and 6.5% of the item total when you make a sale.) You also have to factor in how much you are paying for boxes. Shipping labels shouldn’t cost you anything (besides the paper and tape) if the buyer is paying. You could also do a bracelet pack of 2-4 bracelets for a good price like $5-$12 I hope this helps!

@@Kksworld1414 so most states don’t require a license to sell online, so check online with yours. Commissions usually aren’t a good idea starting out, and with taxes you’ll probably want to set aside 15% of your income for later paying income tax every year

how do you receive the money from the shop? if you are using a parents account does it go directly to their bank account?

Hi! So the money goes directly to the parents bank account every week, but you get to see exactly how much is sent there in the payment section and in emails. If you have a separate account, you could always have your parents send it from their account to yours, or just keep track on paper how much you have to spend!

So to add a listing, go to your shop dashboard and look on the left side where there are lots of options. One is for listings. Click on it and then there should be a “+” icon, which you can click on to start adding a new listing

Thank you! I’ve been selling for 4 years now! Right now I don’t have a lot in stock because I’m prepping to sell in person at a market, so I haven’t been putting as much on my shop. But the amount I add kinda comes and goes depending on how busy I am

Hi! When someone orders from you on Etsy, it’s super easy because Etsy asks for their address before they buy, and then Etsy makes a shipping label for you. Then you put the package with the label on it in the mailbox and the mail person will pick it up and ship it off

@@Obvs_Shanz yes! You print the label and then tape it to the box. And PayPal can be your parents PayPal, although you don’t have to have it. The money will get sent to your parents bank account

Because I am self employed and just selling online, I don’t have to have a business license. If I was to go to try to sell in my town I might need one. People that sell baked goods on Etsy probably have to have some kind of license, but I am not sure. If you make over (I think it is) $600 in a year then you have to pay taxes. But as for setting up your business it is pretty easy and no license was required.

Do you have to have an Etsy seller? And when I tried to do it I really don’t know how and I’ve been stressing out A LOT because I don’t know how to get my Etsy seller to work:( do you need a computer? Please help:( it keeps saying “Etsy shop required this account does not have a shop associated with it”

@@Ashy_cloudz hmm if you haven’t set up a shop under the account, go to the main website to make a shop. Then you can get the app attached to your account and shop. The Etsy seller app is not required, and neither is a computer! You can just use the website on your device to manage your shop

It’s free to make a shop, but they do charge .20 cents for each listing. This will pay off once you make a sale

For me when i sign in on etsy seller (blue icon) it says this account does not have a shop

Hmm, maybe try going to the main website, and looking at the options at the bottom of the page. There should be an option for creating a shop but I’m not sure
