What's the one tape you are hunting? For me I am still struggling to find a decently priced copy of The Goonies in the slipcover case, not the clam shell. I'd love to know what yours is!

I'm trying to find the first Ninja Turtles on VHS! I still have my childhood copies of 2 and 3, but not sure what happened to the first one. Would love to find Surf Ninjas as well, but I feel that's going to be tougher than TMNT.

@@willywampa84 That's wild that you just said Surf Ninjas. While I have that already I saw yet another copy at the christmas retro market at the mall this weekend! Good luck on your hunt!

My main issue with this is that magnetic tape media is not "permanent". Even if you don't read/write to it routinely, in several years the data will fade anyway.
@ChrisCollectsStuffАй бұрын
You are correct. What I find interesting are the tapes that are nearly 40 years old that play perfectly. I know that will eventually not be the case, but they aren't as fragile as folks make them out to be. I collect for the fun and nostalgia of it. My Blu Rays and 4k discs are for the home theater enjoyment.
@MrJest2Ай бұрын
@@ChrisCollectsStuff It is indeed surprising how durable mag tape *can* be - depends on how they were manufactured. Many moons ago I bought the "pre-remake" original Star Wars trilogy, and they still play pretty decently some 30 years later. Of course, I have long since ripped them off onto optical storage, but I'm still impressed with the quality of these recordings.

@@ChrisCollectsStuff I am old enough to have been a young teen when "Star Wars" came out in theaters. I've probably seen almost every version that was available at the time, including mono-audio "drive in" editions. I always laugh at people purchasing t-shirts and whatnot that say "Han shot first". They should really say, "Han shot, period." In the original, Greedo never got a round off at all - he was just brutally wasted under the table. 😋
