Like another viewer, it’s been many years since I made several cross stitch patterns, so this was a perfect refresher. years ago I used thin sewing thread (not DMC) to mark the vertical and horizontal center lines before counting from the project center to start the pattern crosses. Of course pull out the center line marking thread at end of the project.

Hi Hailey. Just found your video. I'm picking up cross stitching after many years. So, I've forgotten another. Your tutorial was so helpful. The way you instructed was clear and simplified. PS: Perhaps it was mentioned and I missed it, … when the thread starts to twist within itself it helps to let the threaded needle dangle for a second so it can untwist itself which in turn prevent knots.

Thanks for this video! I’m getting ready to start my first cross stitch project. I am curious on your thoughts of the Charles Craft DMC vs. the Wichelt? Is the Wichelt worth the price difference to you?

Yay! Personally I can’t tell a huge difference! Wichelt is a bit more stiff, which is nice if you’re not going to use a hoop, but I don’t really think it’s worth the price difference. I only buy Wichelt when it’s all that’s available when I’m shopping at certain stores online. I think Charles Craft and Wichelt have very comparable Aida fabric!
