How do I dress more mature without aging myself? That’s my dilemma.
@IAMDESII

Dress Mature/Classy…but keep it fun by adding youthful touches. - Balance timeless pieces with modern, cool girl details like fun accessories, trendy shoes (sambas etc.) or a pop of color. - Experiment with prints Oh anddd PLAY W/ COLOR! 💛 Wear shades that brighten your complexion! ❌ Avoid overly muted or dark palettes that might feel aging without the balance of the things described above. Hope this helps 🫶🏽

Take some advice from an old woman, I am 69 years old and I went through the same thing at your age. Once I started dressing, very professional I had opportunities open up to me. I felt empowered still to this day. I wear very nice classic clothing. I’m retired now, but I still want to look good so I dress well just more casually. The amount of respect that you were going to get from dressing modestly, and professionally is going to shock you, people treat you how they see you dressed.❤

Me too. I have been dressed professionally since my late 20s as I work in an office. We had a business attire dress code. No sandals, only closed toe shoes.

I have been a Class Act since 2003 lol, I'm 41 now. Growing up I had fabulous examples of fashion from both my maternal and paternal grandmothers. I'm talking full furs, and chignons lol! My mother was always a class act from her makeup to her perfume. My mother's key advice, “Dress for your shape, the time, and do not show it all at once”

I agree! I’ve been dressing grown since I was a teen in a classy way. I had great examples from the women in my family. Classy dressing wasn’t an option, it was expected. You also have to dress for the career you want. So young ladies even if you are in an entry level position dress in a manner to the high level position you may want. Your employer takes notice.

Whew! Say it again. You were indeed blessed to have great examples from the woman you know. Great advice, thank you!

I just retired in August. I always told the younger to get a capsule wardrobe. Black, grey, camel trousers. You can wear shoes, pumps, flats, boots . White blouse/ shirts or basic tees. Blazers or cardigans are a must. You can shop at J Crew, Express, Zara, TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

Speaking of fabrics…Quality is SO important. I work in a large city downtown area, every day I passed by a shop and admired the clothing from the window and finally stopped in. I could not understand why the clothing no longer appealed to me 😳….it was the FABRIC!! Polyester City!! Great video, subscribed.

In Jan 2023 I told myself no more will I hold back from dressing the way I wanted. I slowly started building my wardrobe and it brings me immense JOY to dress fabulous! Ok! I feel confident, empowered, self assured all because I have and am continuing to cultivate my style. It’s like I am my own passion project and it just keeps evolving ❤ great content

I wore blazers in the 20s and 30s due to my job but I also wore them casually (if that's even possible) and to dinner and the club lol I guess it was a different time then! I'm 41 and I don't own any blazers. Wear what you want. I regret not wearing certain things because I thought I was fat but now I really am lol so just express yourself but dress appropriate for the occasion. And make sure it's your style because you could end up looking like you are playing dress up.

Girl, I started having my babies at 28, and I am 35 and have a 6,5, and 1 year old. I’ve been in sweats, hoodies and ripped jeans, for the past 6 years. We plan on having 1 more in the next year or so, but I DESPERATELY want and need to update my wardrobe now and implement new habits even if I’m just taking them to and from school and to the grocery store. Thank you always for your content, you are goals! Sending so much love from Cali ❤❤❤

Haha, nice way to sneak that in! I really need to get on it. I’m a natural (with no heat damage) that does blow outs using the revlon blow dry brush. Take your time and get it as smooth/ straight as possible (be sure to use a frizz oil when blow drying). I section my hair into 4 and then I just twist each section into buns (using silk scrunchies) overnight. In the morning I just take a wide tooth comb and lightly rake through. I do this every night. I wash and blow dry my hair about once every 7 days. Hope this helps queen! ❤️

One thing that a lot of people overlook is just wearing clothing that actually fits or using a tailor. It will “grow you up” instantly.

I think there’s a happy medium. Looking put together shouldn’t mean looking so much older than your years. Both sides in the thumbnail look so old for different reasons. There’s a place for professional wear. There should be a happy medium where you can wear anything modest as long as it’s tailored to your body.
@carlie471
@carlie471 Ай бұрын
Yeah the looks on the thumbnail are very dated on both sides. I hate to say this, but this video is giving old lady yelling at clouds a bit. Out of touch just a smidge. I'm a born and raised New Yorker tho. So that might be influencing my thinking. I grew up around youth (and adults in various industries) who express themselves differently and creatively through their personal style. I think that made me into a more open minded person. As long as a person isn't wearing something offensive (like a shirt with a slur), I don't judge what other grown people wear. There's a lot of innovation, boldness and creativity of style that happens in NYC, that takes several years to trickle down to the rest of the country. I think it's because the rest of the country is slower paced, has less diversity and is more close minded or conservative, when it comes to fashion and style. I think the woman who runs this channel could benefit from going to New York fashion week and seeing what powerful women in leadership positions in their respective fields are wearing. I think it might turn her ideas of being taken seriously as a woman, by avoiding dressing in a way that deviates from tradition, on its head. It could be an invigorating and educational trip.
@IAMDESII
@IAMDESII Ай бұрын
You should really turn this into an article ☺️ It’s honestly a bit out of touch for you to assume that everyone should make New York their standard as if they live their day to day lives there. I do believe you have a bias because you live in one of the most diverse cities. Unfortunately, if you take a trip to smaller towns, cities and states your perception may change. Dressing is all dependent on where you live. I’ve been to New York several times and have family there so I know what it’s all about. also I’m fine with it “giving” old lady as a woman in my 20’s this video was to assist in helping other woman in their 20’s who may not live in the lavish city of new York where every one is craving to be “different”. Every state or part of the world is different with different standards and expectations of how you should/could carry yourself as a woman. Clearly you are not my target audience. So not sure why you consumed this content if you were going to be so offended by it. Any ways all love ❤️
