Steph, when will your printables be available again? Or where can I find them? Your web site seems to be out of commission. Thank you in advance! 🙏

You do them on top, but only once your basic habits/ routines are automatic. If you do too much at once you probably won't. Stick with it. Wait until your routines are super established before starting zones.

I found you last year and I can't thank you enough. I am amazed what I get done in less than an hour a day. I have 4 zones and I declutter something each week in each zone. One cabinet one dresser drawer. I use to not do it because who wants to tear a whole dresser apart but one drawer I can handle that. Last month I opened all my kitchen cabinets and there was nothing to declutter. I stood there confused for a minute then I realized this system has done its job. Thanks again.

I'm so overwhelmed, I just feel like where do I start. I think I should declutter a drawer a week from different zones. What a good idea.

I know how you feel. When I first started watching Steph I shined my sink for a week the next week I added my bed and swipe and swish then before I knew it I had my zones set up and it works great for me. Her saying "Good enough is good enough." has helped me so much.

So happy to see you’re back doing videos! I’ve missed your cheery encouragement and motivation. This weekend I’m doing prep (decluttering, figuring out zones, cleaning tasks I want to accomplish in my zones, inventory of freezers, fridges, pantry) and will start the routines on Monday. I have a tip that I have done for many years that I’d like to share with you: when you unload your dishwasher empty the bottom rack first so that when you unload the top rack the water that is inevitably always on coffee cups and “Tupperware” doesn’t drip onto the dishes that would’ve still been in the bottom rack! So excited to follow along with you on this journey! Many blessings to you and your family!

Run dishwasher immediately after dinner and empty before you go to bed and then load any after dinner snacks or drink dishes. No filling the sink with dirty dishes at breakfast, dishwasher is ready for all dirty dishes as used in the AM, they go directly into the dishwasher and you don't have to start the day with emptying it. Game changer, I will even just use a Quick Wash cycle if I got delayed and it gets to be 7 pm or so after dinner to make sure it is done before I go to bed - Clean sink and day is done.

Love your videos!! I’ve been following you and FlyLady for a while now ❤️ Question about hot spots - I’ve noticed that as I am cleaning one hot spot and I have miscellaneous things I don’t know what to do with, I end up just putting it on a different hotspot somewhere in the house! any ideas on how to prevent this? I used to have a junk drawer, but I recently eliminated this, which is probably the main cause of this issue.
@monstermcboo72822 жыл бұрын
I use a hotspot basket where I toss the miscellanea. I don’t chat on the phone often, but when I do, I use my earbuds so my hands are free, and I usually get all those basket items put away during a quick phone chat. Maybe something like that can help you?
@nshoemaker262 жыл бұрын
@@monstermcboo7282 yes!! Thank you so much!! This is something I can easily incorporate in my household. Such a great idea
@jennylhenry782 жыл бұрын
Find a home for those things or think if they're things you really need. I don't think a "junk" drawer is a bad thing as long as it doesn't become a catch-all. My junk drawer has 3 small bins in it to keep like things together; batteries, pens, misc little things we need, etc.
@Romans828girl2 жыл бұрын
If you're moving things to another hot spot, does that mean those things don't have a home? Or that they do have a home but it's full of other things? Dana at A Slob Comes Clean talks about that.
@blueberrypieology30882 жыл бұрын
Adding to the discussion on stuff missing a home: The stuff may not have a home or that home may be too far away from where you are actually using the stuff. So also consider where you use it.
@CleaningSanity2 жыл бұрын
thank you so much, you have helped me break debilitating perfectionism. I’m a new, young mom and wife, and what has perpetuated me is getting dishes done after dinner. So many days it was just too overwhelming and I was exhausted. And I just couldn’t tick a check mark if they weren’t 100% complete. Last night, for the first time I set a timer and gave myself a check when it was done! NOT when the dishes were. It gave me enough motivation to actually restart the timer, and I was left with 3 dishes to do in the AM. I had so much less to do in the morning all because I allowed myself to stop when the timer did. And instead of marking that day an F for fail, I got a check for progress!

No fails here, you are doing your best everyday! Getting those dishes done at night makes a huge difference though eh? Keep going, I’m cheering you on ! 💕🙂🎉

Hey Steph I have a question. So I fell off the wagon. We moved a year ago and I lost my way. I need to get back because this is life changing. So I know fly lady says you start with shine your sink and then you add from there. Can I just jump in like this instead? I don't want to start over, just jump back on. It's probably a dumb question but I tend to over think
@TheSecretSlob2 жыл бұрын
Definitely jump in like this!

Right, I feel like tiny baby steps don't motivate me. So I do medium jump ins. 😅
@leahrenea27092 жыл бұрын
@@ImLunaShesZeta when I first heard about fly lady I saw the baby steps and thought it was dumb, I needed my house cleaned NOW. I now understand the importance of them and the mindset shift and habit stacking. However now that I get it, I just don't feel like I really need to start at the first step. And yes some people just don't do good going slow. I have fibromyalgia and when I started a few years back I went even slower than fly lady but I also didn't do all the stuff she talks about. My spoons are limited so some of her stuff didn't make the cut. Still made a world of difference.

I have fallen off the wagon with my zone cleaning. Thanks for the inspiration. I am a homeschooling mother of 7 children, ages 10 to 6 months, so if I dont totally stay on top of things 100 percent of the time my house falls into total chaos almost overnight.
@withoutlimitsbudgets640522 жыл бұрын
The way the sounds sounds like you don’t have any time for yourself and obviously fly lady doesn’t have homeschooling kids which takes up most of the day. She must be a stay at home mom who doesn’t work because if you’re running around doing all these tasks throughout the entire day then you have no time for anything else. Schedules are great and I understand the concept of what she has she want you to do small little tasks throughout the day afternoon and night and then we can tasks on top of it but if you just get your house decluttering straightened up from the beginning maintaining it it’s not that hard I had three babies in diapers at one time and I always had a cleaning schedule just like she did just not as regulus and it was a lot easier on my side to do my tasks in a different manner

Ok I've been doing a modified version of the Flylady method. I have EDS so I cut out the timers because I have to work slow or I'll hurt myself. This has worked great so far and for the first time in 9.5 years my home is presentable. I'm thinking of making a mini version of zone(areas) cleaning for my kids to do their rooms and bathroom. I can't expect them to completely clean their room in one day if I'm not cleaning the whole house in one day either. I think this will be the key to them getting control over their rooms. I've got to sit down and do up daily routine, chores, and areas of their room (instead of zones). I'm a firm believer of "I don't live here by myself and I'm not going to clean it all by my self."
