Pls clarify my doubt on inventory. For eg: I had sent 100 units to Amazon fulfillment center , if suppose the product is out of stock. What happens to my listing? How to manage inventory in fulfillment center? How long does it take to restock?

@@aspireU I think that Dan means by skeleton listing, the first draft of listing that we can make just to confirm that we can sell the product on amazon. It will not be the final version, because after the shipping, which takes 35 to 45 days by sea, we will have enough time to go back to it , edit it and make it more persuasive.

Hey Daniel, yes exactly! You would build your own unique product with a manufacturer directly if you're doing private label (selling under your own brand) :)

Hi Dan, I hope you find the time to answer this question because I honestly can’t find a straight answer anywhere. From watching Seller Central University videos and other searches, I am under the impression if you are selling a product under a brand name, you DO NOT need a GTIN, that you can apply for an exemption. That a GTIN is really more necessary if you will be selling in brick and mortar stores. What do you say about this? I bought GTINs anyway because that is what I thought I should do based on a lot of KZbin videos I’ve watched, and it was VERY expensive. I’ll want to kick myself if I could have just applied for an exemption through Amazon Seller Central.

You would need UPC/EAN codes to launch ur product on Amazon even if u r a registered brand or not. GTIN exemption has certain conditions.

Karen I always use and recommend adding your own private label products to Amazon with GS1 GTINs (often UPCs or EANs) because: 1 - As Global Trade Identification Numbers, they identify your products (and listings) globally, this is great if you expand anywhere, including retail because this one code identifies the product everywhere (which you do want to consider as changing this later will be difficult). 2 - Without a GTIN your product will not be eligible for certain programs/benefits such as the Amazon Transparency Program which stops counterfeits. 3 - They directly link your listing to your company via the GTIN. A listing with a lot of reviews is a valuable digital asset. Having GTINs makes your business more sellable should you ever choose. Since the listing's PRODUCT ID cannot be changed, this provides a valuable link should you ever have major hijacking/IP infringing problems. 4 - Generally these result in far less headaches than using recycled codes and other options, both when adding the product and later while selling. To me it seems like Amazon's preferred method which is always wise to follow because of potential future changes.

I have had my gtin printed onto my product packaging instead of the fnsku label, you can use either as Amazon will scan the barcode and it will still link to the product correctly whether it be the gtin or fnsku?

brian if you're fulfilling your own orders (FBM) that will be fine. If you're using fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) then each unit must have an FNSKU on it (FULFILLMENT NETWORK Stock Keeping Unit).

I have a question - The wooden tray would be heavier than plastic weight. So while calculating shipping cost they would consider weight for shipping instead of dimensions and due to this reason won't wooden tray be expensive to ship than plastic tray?

Mohammad that's a good thought! And yes that's possible. This is for example's sake so pretend they're the exact same weight, the point is the price difference.
