Thankyou for this. Some years ago I got bucked off while out riding , the reason being ,I leant forward to grab the rein and bend him around, and flew out the side door🤣 I think that's so important, sit up and don't look down, and brace off the saddle or neckstrap if you need to pull their head up. My other gelding never ever offered to buck ,even when excited, but my young Irish mare will sometimes buck when going into canter( she would rather not have to make the effort,) or if something scares her and she scoots forward. We are only just starting our ridden canter work. She also bucks around the field when playing with her friends. Some do, and some don't ,by nature I guess. You have a very good seat, those were big bucks!

This is wonderful, thank you so much for making this! My boy is very similar to Diva, he loves to buck when he gets exited or nervous. This was very helpful. You are also an amazing rider! And I love that you bought her even though she bucks, in my experience the best horses come from the hardest ones to train ❤

Although the positions described here are important to maintain your mount, I always thought you had to flex the neck and head of the horse to the side to control the hind quarters and stop the bucking. You can't live with a bucking horse. From day one in training you should begin using gentle manipulation of the neck to control the horse left and right. It is also essential if you need to get off quickly.

Yes, I usually try to turn them on a circle if I can, that usually makes it more difficult for them to continue bucking. However, in some situations you just have to try and hang in there😅

When your horse bucks, should you keep cantering until the horse stops bucking ? Or stop the horse ?
@johannajequestrianphysio8 ай бұрын
I think that really depends on the horse! Sometimes just riding forward works, sometimes turning the horse on a smaller circle or just trying to stop the horse👍

If she doesn't get you off, she will probably stop? I have a mare who bucked me off after 2 years of riding her. So frustrating. Now afraid to canter.
@johannajequestrianphysio11 күн бұрын
@@cromana5574 Yes usually she stops😄 fortunately she's not actually trying to get me off, I'm quite sure that I couldn't stay on if she actually wanted to buck me off😅
