Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. Here's a point of feedback: you show cards on screen, but they aren't (always) the ones you're mentioning. That makes no sense to me. I'm not familiar with this set (yet) and I have to pause the video to look up the cards you mention, that takes me out of the video.
@MagicByTheNumbers3 ай бұрын
Appreciate the feedback, I do try to plan out the cards I intend to use as examples but then I think I kind of drift off as I start discussing. I'll try to script it out a bit better and maybe edit in some of the cards that aren't on the slides.
@Tezhut3 ай бұрын
@@MagicByTheNumbers Yeah nice, you could also add those 'drift' cards later in edit. Just showing them shortly on the screen 🙏

@@Tezhut@Tezhut That's a good idea; I'll try to do that in the future whenever I go off on one of my tangents.

1 question I have is assessing color fixers and when to take them. Like I'm not sure if taking them over meh common in my color is a good idea Should I only take them if I need splash help? Or is pre picking to be open good? Could also talk about lands in general, idk how to rate evolving wild or surveil lands

Also I'd argue that drafting the hard way is a lot more fun. Sure it's more complex, as it requires a lot of thinking especially in the first picks. But because of that the drafting process becomes even funnier, instead of being brain dead picking my colors If anyone is looking to be a better draft player, I would strongly advise you to watch any good draft player in video. Right before he says anything or does his pick, you pause the video and you think for yourself "what would I pick ?" See what's your good points, and where you were wrong, and see how it pays off for the player And I think it's really important to ask yourself "why would I pick that ?", "why over this card ?", and then when you play the video again if the good player explains a bit, you'll see how you can improve Sometimes you'll even be surprised how some players pick cards you didn't even think of at all ! Stay open minded, and you'll be good at this

Thank you, hope for more content in this series! I like all of the helpful examples while drafting. If you can also sprinkle in some of your advise while playing the decks, that would be helpful for me as well. I feel like most limited content focuses a lot on pick orders and draft guides and less so on just optimizing the odds of winning by chosing when to play removal, when to just focusing on curving out and all of those questions

Also a follow up, can we get a guide on how you draft your deck after selecting all of your cards? What cards make the cut/dont make the cut, what cards do you consider sideboarding, and what do you consider for your mana curve for any given deck? As someone who isn't used to deckbuilding in draft I struggle with those basics and trying to figure out my mana base and some insight would be much appreciated!

I'll see if I can put something together on making the cuts once you have drafted a pool.

Looter is not a card to avoid imo. Great on his own fuels trshold and hold well buff from birds.
@MagicByTheNumbers3 ай бұрын
The point I was trying to hit was that picking stronger cards like Looter in a weaker color is going to make you less flexible. I wouldn't avoid Looter but you do have to be aware that it is going to be more difficult to navigate a draft if you are in a color that doesn't pair well. I probably could have made that point a bit more clearly.

I broke at least 3 of these rules and still got 3 wins... seems like everyone wants green, mice and rabbits
@MagicByTheNumbers3 ай бұрын
These are just the basic rules so if you know when to deviate from them you are in a good spot already. Green is going to be heavily contested so if you are able to find good lanes with other colors that is probably a nice opportunity.

every set is going to be different. some sets reward you for staying open some sets reward you for going hard into something early. this is a set that tends to reward you for going into something early. I'm not saying it doesn't reward you for being patient and open either, but this set is much more on rails.
