@SICKshotSHANE air filter oil leaks are often worn out engines with piston ring oil blow by being forced up into the air filter. Have the engine compression checked, and if it's low, live with it. Oil is cheap, engines are expensive if the engine is OK, then, check the valve cover gasket, it oculd be leaking.Scotty
@scottykilmer12 жыл бұрын
yes, if head gasket is leaking, it and or the head or block has problems. Steel seal will work on small sized leaks, no sealer will fix big ones. It's certainly worth a try considering the expensive option of tearing the head off

@Matthew55904 power steering systems have no drains, just hoses and a reservoir. Take fluids to a local recycling center if there are any, or to an auto parts store that takes them. your fuel filter is hiding inside the gas tank, leave it alone unless you want to drop the tank. And you have a radiator cap somewhere in a cannister under the hood, fill it up there. Scotty

Scotty, the camshaft seal has a cap. If you remove the backing plate behind the camshaft sprocket, all you need to do is loosen the cap and the seal will come out. Then the new one will slide right in and the bolts are tightened to 14 foot pounds. I learned this not to get the old seal out but looking at various videos about how to install the new one. I was unable to drive it in, and it is unncessary to drive it in. The purist said, remove the cap and put in a little red silicon where the cap meets the head. That is what I did. This method eliminates the need for prying or drilling and using a screw in a tight space. No risk in this method.
@scottykilmer12 жыл бұрын
I'd try it, as it often will seal a cam or crank seal leak
@scottykilmer13 жыл бұрын
@MrWarrick87cutty If it's really the oil pan , and not it dripping from above, you have to replace the gasket, no sealer fixes those leaks. Scotty

bad news there, often serious internal damage like worn engine bearings will mean you need a new engine. So much work is needed if an engine runs out of oil while driving and stops running, no one in their right mind would attempt to fix that engine

@cheese22092 high pressure is often clogs inside the engine, causing the part below the clog to register high oil pressure, while other parts beyond the gauge area have lower pressure. Try flushing the engine oil first and pray it fixes it. And of course, change the oil pressure sending unit with a new one cause they often break and give false readings

Nice video! I LOVE this guy! I've been shade treeing, er I mean, "working on" cars for over 30 years myself and have probably saved literally tens of thousands of dollars doing it myself. I recently worked on one of these 2.2L Camrys ('95) and it had oil coming from the cam seal, front crank seal, valve cover gasket, oil pressure switch, AND that darned oil pump o-ring gasket. I also noticed while it was apart that the oil pump's shaft was grooved where the shaft seal pressed against it so I decided to replace that oil pump assembly as well in case that little seal would decide to leak.

They only cost a few bucks, but of course you have to take it all apart again. Scotty Kilmer

The oil pump bolts are supposed be torqued to 84 inch pounds. This was hard to with my clunky 1/4 drive discount store torque wrench, but I did it. I use petroleum jelly in the channel to hold the oil pump seal in, which I bought at the dollar store for dollar to use during this repair. Supposed to be a pure petroleum product, which should mean that it cannot harm the seal. They call this the spaghetti seal I think due to the little broken-spaghetti like piece it breaks into. Mine sure did. The thing people should take away is, if you do not have a torque wrench and you do this repair, tightend the oil pump bolts very gently and evenly. You do not want to overtighten and strip the threads. Just completed the job yesterday and I still have two tiny drops in the same area. I think these come from the crankshaft seal. Maybe high mileage oil or a sealer will stop it, but I have my doubts. Oil leaks are one of the most maddening repairs. You often fix one only to find you still have another one. And the rate of outright fails is very high.
@scottykilmer13 жыл бұрын

That's a great tip to hold the cam cog in place. Otherwise you pull the valve cover to hold the cam with a wrench to bust the bolt loose, have to probably replace that cover gasket, and have a new potential leak in the valve cover if not done just right.
