No. There's no hard evidence anywhere to explain what they were for, but MY suspicion, based on the fact that they're not actually useful for climbing but do have that fancy quick deploy feature, is that they might've been used AFTER someone has climbed a tree, and needs a way of holding on one-handed to a tree trunk while they pick fruit with the other. These then *could* be used by scouts to remain up a tree out of sight for extended periods, which *might be why they got associated with ninjas. But that's all total guesswork.

In Florida.... When i was a kid a slug went inside of the door bell. It made the door bell ring non-stop. So my brother held his katana and my father opened the door very fast... but nobody was there. Just the slug.

Ofcourse how to dodge a sword: dodge it
@crowe69615 ай бұрын
It's rather instinctual, I dodged a couple of spear thrusts to the head last time I did group sparring with them. Still took plenty of hits though. The trick is keeping well-balanced so you don't get pushed off-balance and levered or shoved to the ground.

@@pegasusrr3156 let me introduce you to little concept this guys limp wrists aren't holding that blade locked in with a real opponent that actually moves and there's no way on this earth that someone is holding their hand in that position and having any degree of stability in keeping the blade where they want it to be all it'd take is a little resistance to make his grip on the blade slip you really have no clue what you're waffling about my guy
@markopolo12715 ай бұрын
@@pegasusrr3156 there's also the fact that you assume he'd ever be able to pull this kinda bullshito off in real life people don't wait for you to pull of your special moves my guy this technique is functionally useless and relies on nothing but wishful thinking. There's a reason why real offhand sword catching daggers were daggers and not gauntlets or wrist mounted spikes and that reason is simply just leverage and biomechanics the wrist is a fairly weak structure as is so when you put all the force directly into your wrists in this manner with this range of motion it's just foolish because it's just not ideal use of your bodies biomechanics you ideally want a stable and stronger way to grip a blade like this and that's why they used daggers with slots in the blade instead because it utilises the stronger range of movement of the wrist and arms combined as apposed to the weaker movements you see here with these wrist spikes. Also the name swordbreaker as in the historical offhanded daggers isn't something that is literal it's also misleading because they don't break swords but jams the opponents blade between the slots in the blade it's also worth noting that those daggers slots were specifically designed to trap blades and weren't just spikes they had arrow shaped cutouts which made entrapping a blade far more effective than just metal spikes on a wrist mount so yeah it'd be fairly easy to slip outta these wrist spikes due to several reasons mainly being that they're smooth spikes and mounted to a wrist makes this a very poor tool for trapping a blade
