Here in India fear is addressed as outcome of having desires. Fear of getting ridiculed. Fear of not able to win other person in arguments or actual fights etc. So fear ends when there are no desires. No expectations. When you have nothing to prove. Fear leaves your mind when you stop calculating. Fear dies when you learn to go with the flow, accept pain and pleasure with equipoise.

And to understand that though you have lost some things because you were born when you were born, where you were born-because of who you became: you've gained some other things. The more emotional or physical pain, fear, anxiety and discomfort we're willing to feel, live through and embrace, the more courageous we will be. For myself, exercise changes a lot of what I experience emotionally. It's a razor's edge. If I'm not pushing myself to progress towards my goals, I will eventually hate myself and run into problems. Everyday I do something to move in the "right" direction and even from the small accomplishments that may exist over a easy warm-up and workout, there is often a better state of mind at the end of it. We are biological computers. Physical preparation for ideal cognitive function, regardless of whether that be from increased circulation, oxygen consumption, or metabolic changes that occur with muscular exertion, are all part of the game.

Exercise is a powerful tool to clear our emotional energy. But it doesn't resolve the fundamental reason for the emotion. We often use exercise to cope with what we feel. You mention that you fall into self-hatred if you aren't doing enough. You're effectively medicating this feeling of hate with exercise. And that's fine. But to really set yourself free you would need to address why you are prone to hating yourself. On the surface, it sounds like you're hating yourself as a whip to motivate you. And it likely seems like it works - as you do push towards your goals. What is the purpose of your goals? If you achieve your goals but aren't happy and don't love yourself, what's the point? What if your goal was self-acceptance, self-love? If you set that as your goal for the next 6 months, you wouldn't be able to use self-hatred as a whip. This would be very challenging. But getting to the root of the self-hatred would be incredibly powerful. Cheers.

This is a brilliant explanation. I am a Body Code and Emotion Code practitioner. I help people release the emotional baggage stored in our bodies like maladaptive emotions and trauma. I share a technique with my clients to help them with maladaptive emotions. First one has to notice that they are feeling the emotion, whether it be fear, panic, anger, anxiety, etc. Then acknowledge the emotion by seeing oneself as a small child, maybe five or so. Hug that child. Tell him/her that it’s okay to feel the emotion. Tell the child that they can be as angry, anxious…. Whatever, for as long as they want. Just hold the child and send love. I find that the emotion disappears almost immediately. Then replace that emotion with joy, gratitude, happiness, etc., whatever feels right. I have been using this technique for a long time. I rarely feel anything maladaptive any longer.

@@brokenbutterfly3178Please don't do that. I have contemplated it several times. But it is not the answer. I have realised that we live in a world where we see other being their best self, and we want to be our best selves too. But in the midst of this we set unrealistic expectations for our selves. These unrealistic expectations are one of the causes of people falling into depression, anxiety etc . Facing the problem is the only way to get rid of it. And to do so we must make a realistic goals that we can endure through. If you feel like you'd like to talk more or discuss please let me know. Also I urge you to watch the videos about overcoming anxiety and nihilism from the AOI collection. It has put into perspective a lot of things for myself.

There is manipulation but 99% of media manipulation is simply about keeping you watching so they and their advertisers can keep making money off of you rather than anything political - politics is just a part of the product they're selling along with sex and violence. Fear keeps people watching. It's Capitalism working _exactly_ as designed: pushing progressive fears on progressives and pushing conservative fears on conservatives to keep us all watching. And don't think that alt news is any different, if anything it's worse because it doesn't have to even pretend to give proof beyond hearsay and a lot is astroturfing by vested interests. As ever, follow the money to find what's really happening, keep a good eye on the 1% to see where 50% of all the money is going. And don't get dazzled by the names you recognize, look for the quiet ones in the background.

Well' it takes just as much insight and wisdom to face your fears as does courage. Even with the prospect of failure, comes an opportunity of growth, Thus with every independent step you take, you risk taking a tumble, But knowing and understand that risk allows you to tackle what ever comes your way in better more prepared manner giving you insight and wisdom. The courage comes in you standing your ground and taking everything you can inn in order to grow as much as possible regardless of the risks.

Well done. Fear didn't just run in my family, it galloped - secrets, shame, curtains closed, never let anyone in, never EVER tell! Determined not to follow the family tradition, whenever I find myself holding back, playing small, I say to myself again and again "you are not a coward, you are NOT a coward." For many that would be too harsh, but it's worked for me and helped me to build a great career, travel the world and build a life I am proud of. This stuff works!

My note, Step 1, labeling emotions, identification, acknowledging, acceptance, honesty, truth. Step 2, discern between adaptive or maladaptive. If adaptive then follow accordingly to the direction it points, if maladaptive go to the opposite direction it points.

"Anxiety can alert us to the fact that we are taking the wrong path in life." Nicely put. A reminder that anxiety needn't just be considered an inconvenience to be medicated away. It has a positive function. The two panic attacks I've had in my life each coincided with my instincts screaming at me to change course. My instincts were right. I ignored them. I then had the attacks.

I think thats a lot of it, were so far removed, most of us from being close to death on a daily basis. Its funny, I dont fear dying since I really dont enjoy living, but I know that were I to stand up to the bullies of life I would soon have to do battle, lose, and possibly be killed since Im small and have no idea how to fight, and yet I dont do it. I can see why dueling was a thing, it gave smaller guys a chance.

Instead of not taking action due to fear, I think its particular important to also look at our lack of discipline and engagement of life. With ideals being influenced at birth and technology developed to rob us of our time, we unknowingly slip into a superficial and meaningless life. Less we see of those that willingly engulf themselves in the flames of life. Yet, those that place themselves into the forge become the blacksmiths of their own life. No longer willing to take direction from others, for they have became their own person. The self imposed pressure of betterment is what creates their life of meaning, not the next iphone, lambo, or the approval of others. Sure, these dont hurt but they should come in exchange through the mastery of an individuals craft. Not through the enslavement of a "job" that was obtained to by shit. Release yourself from the chains of mediocrity. Be your own person. Develop your own values. Master the craft of your choosing.

I, personally, don't feel like a coward, but I do feel nihlist. I suppose the courage to caŕry on, in the knowledge that' it's all pointless, is kind of courageous in itself.
@SepticFuddy3 жыл бұрын
And how do you "know" that it's all pointless? The same way you "know" there's no transcendent Creator? It's certainly reasonable and perhaps necessary to entertain such perspectives, but to claim to "know" them is to lack self-awareness of your own ignorance. "And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know," - "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas. Why would meaning be the driving factor in a life well-lived if it did not actually exist? Try asking yourself that one, see where it leads.
