Just be yourself. I am pretty sure no one is genuinely boring. It's the pressure of being entertaining that leads to confusion and, therefore, boring or awkward interaction.
@Magemo77 жыл бұрын
yeah ... I follow this channel for a while now and it's kind of depressing. I'm getting the feeling there is one way, one behaviour to be successful and even if it's probably true I don't wnt to live in a world where every one is or pretends to be always positive, is energy driven and so on ... Plus being French I(we) often see American as too much enthousiastic for us. That's of course influenced by education (where everything is celebrated), and I just feel too far from it.
@creativename32567 жыл бұрын
Tell Me This I guess it depends and there are still helpful tips in the video, but I appreciate that you share this :) I have CFS which means that I am constantly tired and have way less energy than everyone else, so it's really helpful being reminded that being myself is still okay and that I don't have to be energetic and always positive to be interesting. I would like to add that it isn't always the pressure of being entertaining that leads to boring interactions, though, but sometimes just the big differences between people. By being myself, some people have found me extremely interesting and others have found me extremely boring (and had no problem telling me that I am, apparently...)
@jacksonjoestar50357 жыл бұрын
tbh that's not true at all. One type? Come on man, Trump , Tywin, Tyrion, Tony Stark, Wonder Woman? These are all interesting characters but they are vastly different, you just need to find YOUR interesting character.
@Parmesan24027 жыл бұрын
I think this is probably true for most of who watch this video. But you have to remember that those classic instagram selfie generic long hair, green jacket, and blue jeans girls exist who do nothing but working/being in school, getting drunk and being on Instagram/Snapchat all day. I am NOT saying that most girls are like that, I think it's the opposite. I am just saying that those types of girls exist and they are somewhat more frequent than other more interesting types.

I really appreciate that this is different from the standard, "it's your fault for being boring, just go out and do stuff!" approach. Awesome video! Ever since I was a little kid, I was always shy and never was good at keeping up with conversations. But I had a desire to expand my boundaries and tried, even through embarrassments, managed to get better with making a conversation with others. One tip I have is having a genuine desire of letting the other person talk the most. Eventually they'll have an enough interest to talk with you. Works almost every time for me. :)

Even sometimes i feel that whenever i go pass someone and i always look like sad guy but even though i am not but it is what it is. Being energetic solves all the problem and that cures every problem of being shy, boring, etc

I always think that no one is a boring person, maybe someone is just shy and being a shy person is reversible because all you have to do is build a self-confident and learn to interact with other people. Make it a challenge for yourself to always contribute in a discussion because your voice needs to be heard and your idea matters.
@Mitjitsu5 жыл бұрын
it very much depends on what environment you're in. If your interests and outlook on life notably differ from those around you, then you're going to struggle to fit in. The people I find boring are the ones who're hostile to anything that goes against their own thought mentality; don't want to do anything that goes outwith their comfort zone and are judgemental towards other people and things. As a result of this they only associate with people who're just like them, and will treat anyone else with hostility and suspicion.

To anyone saying that people are never "genuinely boring", im an example. My parents are bored of me, i try to talk to them by asking questions such as how was work or any plans this weekend but it always end. Like it never goes anywhere else. Same with friends. There was a time i had a meltdown and an existential crisis, i asked a friend if i was boring. She admittedly said yes. Another guy also told me that I would be "datable" if i had personality. So he basically said i was pretty enough but i was boring and there's nothing unique about me. My family can't even tell me something im "unique" at. They don't see me growing up to become a specific profession. I don't too. That's why i want to die before i even reach college or die as soon as possible because im just a waste of time, energy, air, space, money, life etc. I am not worth anything, i wish someone would just kill me and donate my organs to people who need them. Then, i would have a purpose.

You're not a waste of time and space. God created all of us with a purpose. And I'm sure you're not boring at all, maybe it's the people your surrounded with. Let's say that even if you are, you have an opportunity to change. Find things that interest you, volunteer or work at a part time job. I'm sure doing those things will bring you to meet people why may have similarities and interests that you have.

I have a tip for you guys. When i was a teen i tried to search for a way to be "funny". I tried lots of things but the thing that worked most was to analyse (not copy, analyse) stand-up comedians i try to reach for their "energy". For example, one thing that most of comedians do: Start with the phrase " You know what sucks?" And then complain about something funny. In a dayli conversation it opens a topic that can last for a very long time. Try it guys it really works

As long as we make those around us feel important we will be fine. One of the best books on the subject is "How to win friends and influence people" By Dale Carnegie. It's an old book, but this still applies today and it has sold millions. I might be wrong, but the point of Charisma on Command in this video is that we should get out of our bubble. Like he said, if we always read self-help books, try reading fiction, etcetera. To do kind of the contrast of what we normally do. If we always associate we people of like us because we define us as a brand then that makes us less interesting. However, if we associate with others that are different we get exposed to learn from others and understand why they do what they do. Most issues we all have is because of unawareness. By expanding our knowledge, culture, music, activities, hobbies and so on, we get to have more things in common with more people or at least understand others more, and be less ignorant. And in turn that makes us more interesting.

I agree with all of these points. Nice video! (Sorry for the long post) One problem for me in the past was that I always looked like a boring person. I don't do too bad in English conversation... but when you're in a room full of people who speak another language and they're talking really fast, laughing at inside jokes that even with knowledge of that language, you would struggle to grasp. It's hard. You start to question yourself pretty quickly when you're not used to being such a debbie downer. You awkwardly half-laugh everytime the whole table is cracking up. Here's where people give this advice: "Well don't fake it... If you don't think it's funny, don't laugh." That doesn't really work because people start to look at you funny (you're the only one who isn't in on the joke) and if they realize that you don't speak their language, sometimes it kills the momentum of their conversation. Also people say: "Just ask your friend to explain it to you in English." That doesn't work either. Most of the time explaining the joke, kills it. It's just not that funny, and with the culture difference it's more likely to be something you don't understand. It also dampens the group's conversation because they were laughing and having a nice time and now you feel more like a nuisance, or at least a burden... After some time I learned the language (Spanish) and now when I'm in a group like this, I'm not really the life of the party, but I don't look so boring or out of place as I used to. I can have a nice time. I'm happy/fun enough. I guess what I'm trying to say is. Being boring in situations like these is one thing, but seeming boring because you don't understand a language? That's really tough. You don't have as much power as you do in your first language. Although I'm pretty much beyond those struggles, I'm sure there's other people who have had similar situations. Learning the language is the way I got out of it but that's not going to cut it for most people. My only advice would be to not take youself too seriously... even with that in mind it's a tough one. How to NEVER Be Boring Internationally would be a good video. Thanks for reading this far if you did. You're the man! Keep the good tips coming!

Charlie, you are obviously a morning person, which I am NOT. Moreover, you don’t understand introverts. I am usually annoyed by people who are energetic and cheerful in the morning. And too often the one who interrupts and tries to redirect a conversation is the only one who is bored. I save my energy for the evening when I’m most alert, and I love slow, thoughtful conversations that hyper people find “boring”. I tend to perceive consistently high energy people as insincere or insecure. It’s important to be aware of differences among personalities.

You don't need to show high energy in public and in front of others, just release the energy at your own space and stay cheerful and calm when you go out.

I'm a boring person. Hate using ”I" because its not about me. Someone so caught up in there heads thinking about themselves,they think their fun but in reality their not.
