Use physical sensations to shift out of the emotional wave, got it. No problem, I have strong inner grundel awareness, lol. This reminds me of the Jon Young's kamana naturalist homestudy program. He uses a daily sit spot and sensory exercises and bird language as a way to shift into the living moment. Owl eyes, peripheral vision, seems to engage alpha brain waves directly. I like shifting my focus to feeling breezes on my skin, breeze-feeling makes me automatically more aware of my breath too. It's like I feel the air around and within me at the same time, it's nice.
