Storing my 22 inch Blackstone for winter, mine will be inside, however I will be making another video for the 36 griddle that stays outside for hard winter months. This griddle is my camping one and has only been used a few times. I been storing my griddle’s like this for year. This griddle replaced my old 17 inch, original that had the grease trap in the front what I sold after getting this griddle here . This griddle was a black Friday walmart deals for day limited edition… 2022 , was seasoned in the spring of 2023 and was used over the summer and fall.
Its best to get this done while its still kinda nice outside, one to save on gas , 2 so your not freezing outside.
Because this is the one i only use for camping/ traveling/ tailgating/ picnics I was done using it for the season. My 36 griddle that stays out year around, will be done later in the fall before snow hits the area. For me I don’t like cooking outside in freezing weather thats just not fun for me. So I store them for winter. If by a slim chance i want to use the 36 in the winter it’s nothing to it and can be used , and restored for winter again. It’s easy and simple but I do have more steps than the 22 in this video here, so if you’re interested be on the lookout for that video later maybe the end of November or beginning of December all depends on the weather. Go ahead and subscribe and hit that notification bell 🔔 so you know when I upload a new video.
Hopefully this was helpful to someone .

I don’t think it’s enjoyable freezing 🥶 when cooking. + it is uses to much gas.

Oh well, money is not an issue for me at least and it keeps you warm standing in front of it 😎

They have silicone mats for the griddle on Amazon instead of using wax paper

Yes thank I know, also overpriced, and no where to put it when cooking i hear bad things about them. I will stick with this , it never has failed me yet.

@Blackstone_and_tasty My silicone cover cost $20, and I've been using it trouble-free for over 2 years. I don't put my griddle away for more than 3 days let alone a whole season and I'm pretty sure it was a good investment for me.

The drain should be in the back on the griddle. I think you got the plate on backwards it should not drain over the knobs.

Its part of the seasoning process on a smaller griddle, you can also check out some of Todd Toven older videos its how i learned this trick on a smaller griddle when seasoning . Before putting it away for the season it says this in the video and explains to be careful when doing this. ( wasn’t cooking any food) hope this helps you.

Why did you use onions?
@Blackstone_and_tasty
@Blackstone_and_tasty 11 ай бұрын
There's sulfur in the onions that really help to polymerize. And really help to achieve that black surface. Its also good for anything cast iron, and grills. For any regular grills with grates,An onion's natural acidity and fluids can loosen dirt, stuck-on food, and grease, and have your grill looking nearly new in minutes. The natural juices also have antibacterial properties that sanitize the grates for regular grills. So its not just griddles .

@@Blackstone_and_tasty I do the same! Always use half an onion to clean my grill grates while still hot. And much sager than a wire brush.

First time hearing this process. Wax paper doesn't stick after months stuck to griddle? 😮
