I always disassemble my bike to its individual components so I can simply store it in my kitchen drawers (I store the frame and wheels under my bed). It took me a long time at first, especially rerouting all the internal cables and adjusting the brakes and derailleurs after removing the fork and handlebars, but now it only takes me about five minutes to completely take it apart or build it back up again.

I've mounted my old road bike handlebar reversed against the wall as the ultimate bike holder! All you need is a piece of tubing and a tube mount piece to get enough clearing from the wall. The handlebar tape even protects the bike paint. I've even mounted a saddle under the bars to make it resemble a wall "trophy". Best bike hack I ever pulled off!

After it's cooled off from the dishwasher, you can store it as parts carefully in foam lined storage crates that slide under your bed and reassemble it in the morning before your no-drop sunrise gran fondo. I live with Roommates and in my 15.5 foot x 10 foot room, I have three complete bikes and a frameset hung on my walls. My Raleigh Macaframa track bike hung by Cycloc Hero Mount, my Specialized Langster single speed, hung by a MaxFind system, and my Diamond Back Podium by a Gootus. All are 3 point pedal hangers and they work a treat. The frameset is just hung with some cheap steel wall mounted coat hangers ($8.00 US).

I store my bikes hanging on the wall. An option not mentioned are hooks that grab one of the pedals. It typically results in a bike with the wheels against the wall, leaning outwards. It will typically look pretty cool because it's not easy to see the hook when the bike is on the wall. But I recommend having something that helps keep the bike level, I have a pair of shallow shelves for putting pictures on, one below each wheel.

Thanks, Manon. Good video. There are lots of options out there as shown in this YT video. I installed one that is similar to one of the first one you showed at the 0:25, except mine has a small, flat storage area on the part that extends from the wall. I use that storage area to store my helmet and gloves. I don't understand why most wall mount bike racks don't have storage for your helmet or gloves, but at least I found one that does. To prevent my handlebars from turning left or right, I use a piece of velcro to attach the front wheel to the frame so it stays straight.

I also use these (I have five, so 10 bikes stored on them!) but only two bicycles on each one. I have the two bikes I usually ride leaning against the wall in my breakfast nook. They overlap handlebars and take little space. As they are obscured by a partial wall, I can only see them when I'm in the room. I had a fancy wall stack rack, but it made the bikes much too prominent in my current apartment. While I might not always get away with this, it works for me. Deciding where can be more important than how, IME.

If you're in a 2nd fl apartment w/a balcony, I can tell you where NOT to store it. A friend stored her bike out on her balcony. Unfortunately, while she was out of town for the Holidays, someone climbed up in the dark and stole her bike! I never wouldn't thought anyone would be that bold. If you do this, secure your bike to the balcony w/a U-lock. She didn't.

I used to store a bike leaning on the bannister at the top of the stairs but I got fed up of hauling it up four flights of stairs. I put a hook on the wall so I would use 3 flights of stairs but didn't like the look. I changed to a folding bike and just lean it against the wall. That hook now holds a coat and my folded up trailer. I have a shelf with bike pump etc and helmets go on small hooks. I'm adding two more for my panniers and knapsack. I also got space in a shared bike hangar on my street for another bike. I ride daily and ever since I had then experience of dealing with a broken arm, I want bike access without hauling bikes up and down stairs. If my arms don't feel up to it then I can go to the bike hangar other days just haul a bike down.

I live in a small 500 sq feet apartment and have three dropper bikes stored using clugs. They only come as far out from the wall as the saddle and, thanks to 38cm handlebars the three bikes only take up a metre of wall. A big bonus for renters is that the weight of the bike is supported by the rear wheels and therefore there's no need to find the stud to put the two small screws into. Very east to use a small amount of caulk, or filler, to cover the hole when you move out with damage deposit intact.

I had this exact problem. Small space, multiple bikes and all the conventional solutions didn’t fit the space. Narrow, under stairs cupboard with the door on the side rather than the end. Too narrow for wall mount as there isn’t the space to step back. It’s only possible to get bikes in and out on their rear wheel and door is slightly narrower than the handlebars of two the bikes. Road bike & BMX: I fitted an artificial beam, at wheel height under the slope with two Hornit Clugs on. Road bike and BMX clip in there, with handlebars slightly overlapping. However this means there is nothing supporting the rear wheels (because of the slope) so cupboard added to stop the wheels slipping (and bonus storage). But I don’t entirely trust the Clugs not to drop the bikes, so curtain pole with heavy duty hanging straps fitted which I hook through the wheels as a load bearing backup (can’t reach straps at the Clugs). Hardtail: Immediately in front as the door to the space is opened, opposite end to the road bike and BMX. Handlebars rather than wheel to the wall on the side because there isn’t enough width to turn the bike so need the handlebars nearest to the door. Handlebars are supported using a pair of ladder hooks with pipe insulation padding. Unicycle: Artificial beam added to the ceiling but had to be mounted on the walls due to plasterboard (and beam at 45° due to structural elements above the door). Fitted with a bike hook and the unicycle hangs above the hardtail (they only just clear each other). Surprisingly this setup left enough space to add in other wheeled items. Stunt scooter: In the space under the handlebars of the hardtail. Resting on the floor with a hook supporting the handlebars so it doesn’t fall. Kickbike: This is the only one that is stored with the front wheel removed due to space. Frame, forks and handlebars are on the wall opposite the door, tucked in behind the hardtail and BMX (where the width of their handlebars means the frame is away from the wall). Rear wheel is supported using a bike hook and frame is supported using a ladder hook. Front wheel hangs from the curtain pole that the BMX and road bike use. All of them are positioned such that handlebars are towards the door because otherwise it’s impossible to get them in and out. I do need to move the hardtail first to get either the BMX or Kickbike out. But they fit.

A hook to hang the bike by the front wheel is cheap and space effective. But it has to be mounted on a wall stud in order to be sturdy. If you can't find the stud or there is none at the right place, get a 2X4 of sufficient length so that it sits on the floor and is bolted with an anchor hook (butterfly type is best) at the top. Then mount the hook to this piece of wood. The weight of the bike will be largely transferred to the 2X4 resting on the floor and a small footing can be attached for increased stability. Alternatively, slide a rubber doormat under the 2X4 and it will provide some grip on the floor in addition to protecting the floor from a wet bike.

Looked at several wall mount systems and ended with a very cheap and simple "pedal-hook" where you hang your bike via one of the pedals. The wheels touch the wall, which might be a problem for some applications, but not this specific one. Total cost less than 10€. And the mount is virtually invisible when the bike is on the wall.

If someone hasn't already mentioned it, ensure that if you attach hooks or specially designed mounts that you secure these to solid points on the walls or ceiling, in other words timber joists or stud partion timber! Most modern homes are lined with plaster board which will not support too much weight without the fixings and your bikes departing their mounts and falling on you or family or other 'precious' items like the wife!!!!😂😂😂😂 I personally use a few bike work stands in my "man cave" to hang my bikes! I have that topeak and it's flimsy. There is no way you can get it under tension without damaging your ceiling, unless you have full concrete ceiling.

Thinking a good and safe way to store the bicycle would be to tie it with the National flag on the top of the 75 foot high flag pole.

Another filler video to plug the pricey cleaning kit. Also if anyone is planning on mounting bikes to walls or hanging them from the ceiling, make sure what you are fixing it to can support the weight and know what's behind any surface you are drilling into !
