Dear Chris, I use a belt sander with 150 grit to sharpen my Speed Heater blades. I am careful not to let them get too hot, i usually rotate back and forth between 2 blades, letting one cool while I sharpen the other. Really appreciate your channel. You helped me in removing lead paint from redwood tongue and groove siding, on my 1942 home.

You're using the exact same tools I just used for stripping a 110 year old carriage garage door (actually two). What I used for the final "dry" scraping is the Bahco 2" scraper, as opposed to the 1" triangle blade. Worked faster than the smaller blade, without the screeching of the EcoStrip scrappers! Nice door, by the way!

I’d like to use an IR paint stripper to strip the paint from the original trim in my 100+ year old house. How do I protect my recently refinished wood floors from the IR paint stripper while working on the baseboards?

Great question! If you don't have a thin piece of aluminum or sheet metal to use as a shield...you can wrap a piece of cardboard in aluminum foil. 👍

What is the name of the scraper you used to take the varnish off? Also, in another video you mentioned something about old doors and if the knob was loose .... then, you stated that you would talk about it later. Do you address that in a video? We have an 1875 home w/ the original glass knobs. They tend to come loose and I have been tightening the set screw. On the door knob you had it had a washer on it. Are these supposed to have a washer? I would like to get more information. I am trying to fix some. We have ordered some more set screws. Even though the screws are well over 100 yrs. old I do not think they would wear down.

Hi Lynn, for all the scraper info, check out the links in the video description. As for the door knob hardware, you may need to replace the threaded shafts if they are worn. Also the in/out slack can be taken up by washers. Google - Kilian Hardware for that 👍

I like them! They aren't cheap, but good tools usually arent. If you have a lot to strip, its a good investment 👍
