@@ggani330 you should absolutely take notes and read them but not dwell on them. From the look of it, studying the notes alone is not helping so, if there are database for practice questions like we have UWORLD for medicine, do those practice questions ASAP. Go over those practice questions as much as you can and you’re going to get familiar with it much more easier because it’s more practical than just reading notes here and there. But you definitely need the notes as well to go back to from time to time. Get to the practice questions now. Hope that helps 🙏🏽

I agree with the first tip out of personal experience actually. I'm currently in A&P I. We've taken 3 exams so far, it's a hard class. I took ok notes for the first exam, just because I went to live lectures and it was what I could manage to write. I got a 78. Exam 2: He posts pre-recorded lectures, so I started using those to take notes. I took nice notes, quite detailed. I got a 70 Exam 3: I watched his pre-recorded lectures once more, but I didn't take as many notes. I took very little actually. Almost none. Maybe a page or two for each chapter when previously it'd be anywhere from 6 to 12. I got an 84 (he considered this one of the hardest exams of the 3) Fewer notes = more time to do other assignments early = finishing early = more time to study

If I have an exam, I rewrite the notes first because I've completely forgotten everything about the topic due to other units at university getting in the way. So, I rewrite the notes THEN once I'm more familiar with the content, I write questions to answer.
@justinbieber96563 жыл бұрын
I make iterations with my studying. The first iteration is highlighting and annotating notes. The second iteration is rereading the highlighted and annotated notes. Subsequent iterations are just actively recalling these highlighted annotated parts. Works like a charm. However, this can never apply to every academic stuff since some courses are practical and then practice exercises are the key.

I made up this technique, which I certainly am not the first to do but essentially I’m lazy and i hate flashcards with my life. I read a passage, page or section of my textbook multiple times, i read very slowly and out loud, each word i try to think about the meaning, sometimes using hand actions or drawing it out, trying to connect the concepts essentially. After i have read it i write down everything i remember, i try my best not to look back and I don’t make it neat, i then fact check, make annotation and make a question that tests me on the knowledge I’ve just learn as well as summarise it, so when i read that flashcard i also can get a bit of revision of the content.

Green tea is good for helping you stay focused as it naturally contains caffeine, but also staying hydrated, having a good sleep schedule, getting fresh air (even if it’s just sitting on the doorstep for a few mins in the morning, still helps) and being active really help to stay focused. It can seem so hard to do those things sometimes, but just start small and keep at it and you’ll find anything is possible. Also just setting aside some time when you wake up/before you sleep prayer is really helpful, doesnt need to be anything fancy n that, prayer is simply a conversation between you and God, hope this helps and stay blessed ❤️

Very interesting. As an engineer, I noticed engineering is more about understanding than memorizing. It is primarily maths and science, you understand the basic rules and practice how to apply it. You hardly have to recall lists. But this vedio is useful for engineering students too.
@Dr.Nellah3 жыл бұрын
Well recall is not only about memorising but also understanding because it can be applied in different ways for example teaching someone or rewriting in your own words which requires you to understand concepts so it definitely still applies if you just alter the actual practical way you practice it.

@@Dr.Nellah my comment was more to compare engineering to other faculties. In engineering/maths/science you have to understand and derive the answers. In comparison, in medicine, law, etc you have to memorize and recall information.

Wow! I’m a danish med student and our studying programme is SOOO different from yours, but damn - I’m so glad that I have found your channel. So many good tips and stuff that I can use. I find it hard to use stuff like lecturio, because I cannot really make it fit into my study plan, but I just checked out Kenhub after watching this video, and I seriously need to buy their premium subscritpion. Almost makes me look forward to anatomy this fall. 😍 Btw, beside being super smart you also are super gorgeous, beautiful and inspirational.

Hey Amalie thank you for your lovely comment! and I know right Kenhub really does actually make anatomy look fun hahah but yeah glad I could help somehow though our programmes are different ☺️

I’m currently about to take my Nursing entrance exam end of May and I’m gonna try this. I’ve been doing exactly wat you’ve been saying. Highlighting, writing all notes and I’m SO lost that I’ve given up but I’m going to try this and hopefully it works.

God bless you for this video!! I am about to enter my sophomore year of undergrad. I never knew how to study, and usually do not study at all, however, I can’t wait to implement this study style! I just know it will help me succeed.

This was first week of college and doing the standard note taking wasn’t it for me. I felt like I wasn’t learning anything. I couldn’t imagine me still doing when I go into nursing school. I’m gonna try to this. My learning style is usually repeating what I wrote in my head. Until I memorize it. Pretty much I’ll make sure to write short but answers that I’ll remember. Thank you so much 😊
@Dr.Nellah3 жыл бұрын
Exactly this is a grad way to actually learn. Also try saying it out loud instead of in your head as it stimulates memory more too ☺️

I just wanted to say, there are many study videos are saying that writing, re-reading and highlighting notes are an ineffective way to study. So if there's one thing that someone should take out of this video, it should be that fact. Also, thankyou so much Ms. Nellah Grace! This helps a ton! I also inspire to become a medical student, so watching videos like these are very helpful and motivational! Good luck with your final year of med school! XD

Just coming across this video. It is very informative. I have exams in 3 to 4 weeks time. I don't think I'll have time to do all this before then. I've been doing passive reading for most of my life.
