Hey Bryan, for the flash cards - do you write the question on one side and the answer on the other? Or are you writing the explanation for the answer? Also, with Wiley, it asks you questions once you finish a section. Would you recommend skipping the questions until you’ve completed the entire “chapter” then go back and answer the questions for each section after reading the section again? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great videos!
@BryanCarretoCPA6 жыл бұрын
Hey Jordan! So I would write the question on one side and the answer on the other. This will avoid you seeing the answer in advance. Do you mean it asks you questions after you finishing watching the lecture for a certain section? If that is the case then yes I recommend skipping the questions at the beginning watching the entire lecture then go back and read the section answer the MCQS, Read the section answer MCQS, and so on. MCQS are what really help you grasp the material and they are the most important part of studying. I hope this helps
@Accountant_of_RS6 жыл бұрын
Bryan Carreto sorry, one more question. How many times do you hit the MCQ per section? If you do it and then and get a low score, do you recommend doing them again until you get a decent score before moving to the next section? Thanks

Hello Bryan, I wasn't planning on taking the CPA exam, but now i have to and so i am kind of lost on two things and i have one else i can ask. 1) Did you take all parts of the CPA exam on the same day? and if you didn't how long did you spaced them out? - 2) besides the Becker( wiley/roger) what other sources did you use to get random multiple choice questions to prepare you for the CPA exam ? - Thanks.
@BryanCarretoCPA3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Question 1) I did not take all 4 parts on the same day. It took me a total of 9 months to complete all 4 sections. I did 1 about every 2-3 months Question 2) I only used Becker and the Ninja CPA notes. You will be fine with Becker alone.. Trust me... they cover almost everything you need to know. The MCQS they have are great

@alexvalles11853 жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan! Did you also study the Simulations? Or just the MCQs? I have the Becker study material and am currently studying for FAR, but I’m not sure if spending time on Simulations is as beneficial. Thoughts?
@As4u9996 жыл бұрын
Thank you thank you thank you for this video!! Its so helpful. For a full time employee, how many hours a day do you recommend to complete one chapter per week? Is a chapter per week reasonable?
@BryanCarretoCPA6 жыл бұрын
Hey Jessica. First off thank you for watching. I finished two exams while working full time in public accounting and I can tell you 1 chapter a week is very doable. That being said, to get this done you will need to be extremely disciplined. I never like to put total hours as my goal, I much rather you focus on just getting through a section in the chapter. For example if you have 5 sections in the chapter make it a goal to get through half of section each day or tell yourself you need to have certain amount of sections done by a certain day depending on your schedule etc. Be more task oriented rather than time oriented because everyone is different and some people catch on to things faster than others. I feel like I put in way more hours than my peers, but that's because it took me longer to grasp the material. Also one more thing with you working full time any time and I mean any time that you are not working you should be studying! So learn to say no to people for just this short period of time and trust me you wont regret it. Good luck and please feel free to reach out with any other questions.

Hello Bryan, I am in DC area and I am planning to go for the CPA exams this year. I watched your video "How I passed the CPA Exams" . I am so pumped up to go for it because I wasn't one of the top student but I managed to have my Bachelor degree in Accounting. So my question is about the flashcards...I purchased the exam materials from Rogers and it comes with the flashcards. You think it will be better to actually do my own flashcards? Also I don't know if you heard about caffeine pills. Did you use them when studying?

Is there any reason you took it in the order you did, Reg first etc.?
@BryanCarretoCPA6 жыл бұрын
Honestly no reason at all...... They all stand alone but in certain cases I recommend taking audit after your first busy season as an auditor as it will be much easier to go through the material. But there is a long story behind why i did the order I did lol. I am going to do a Q & A next week and I am going to add this to the list. So be on the lookout :)

I recently passed FAR which was my first test taken but like you thought I failed miserably after the exam. Now that I know I passed FAR I started studying for BEC. I thought this exam was going to be a breeze but I was wrong lol Did you feel like BEC was pretty challenging also when studying for it?? there are so many formulas already and I'm barely on chapter 2! ugh hoping I can pass the rest....
@BryanCarretoCPA6 жыл бұрын
That's awesome!!! I am so glad to hear that you passed FAR. OMG tell me about it, I have no idea why people say BEC is so easy. It was super hard for me to study for. Variance analysis was the DEATH of me. I even posted a sob story on Another71.com because I felt horrible while studying for it lol. So please don't get discouraged, you got this. Thanks for watching and make sure to stay tuned I have so many videos coming soon. Good luck, I am rooting for you
@yarelirojas78076 жыл бұрын
Did you just keep pushing along through the material and hope that it clicked in the end/at your final review or did you make sure to master everything before moving on to the next chapter? I don't fully understand/ haven't memorized hedging foreign transactions and some finance stuff yet. I'm so scared because I start at Big4 next week. My time will be so limited...

Hey Bryan, during your undergraduate years, were you heavily involved in extracurricular activities in school such as clubs or any leadership activities. I am currently in a situation where I am working outside of school but it is unrelated to the accounting/finance industry. I also understand the importance of networking in this profession and wanted your opinion on how important it is to be in a club such as beta alpha psi or can a student land an internship just by attending these networking events and demonstrating good academics with work outside of school.
@BryanCarretoCPA6 жыл бұрын
Hey Ricardo! first off thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I hope it provided you some value. So now on to your question. Yes I was heavily involved on campus with Beta Alpha Psi and my local accounting club on campus. I was on the board for both of these organizations. I cannot begin to tell you how much being a leader in these organizations helped out my career. It was the main reason why I was able to get a lot of exposure and face to face time with the big accounting firms and my current job. So yes please get involved in any way you can. Also if you can try to get an internship in something accounting related if possible. In college I actually worked at Chipotle on the weekends and was an accounting intern during the week at an aerospace manufacture. You can still land a job at a large firm without being in these organizations, but being a leader on campus is what big firms look for in students. I would highly advise you to not only join your local accounting organizations, but get on the board and be a leader. I promise you that you will get so much value from it. Funny that you asked this question as I have been doing a lot of recruiting the past couple of weeks. I plan on uploading a video next Sunday on what students should do in college to best prepare them for life after college. So please subscribe and share the channel with your school buddies as I would highly appreciate it. Hope this helps!
@luisavelazquez2976 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Fernandez hi there I was a night student who worked full time and was an officer of my campus accounting club. It was really helpful as we met all the local firms as we put on events. It also helped me become Becker rep for my campus (free Becker at that time) my friends also older non traditional students who were involved in the accounting club were able to secure positions at Big 4 firms due to this. I am sure going through the regular process of interviews would have not been as favorable since we were not traditional students the firms prefer to hire
