The “old fashion mom rooster tail” hair style is what I do all the time, only when I’m at home though 😂 It’s just funny because you said that and my hair it’s currently up like that.. It’s quicker and less painful then a pony sometimes, you know? 😂😂

@@angelkat94 its not necessary to cut your hair for bmt, dont do it! its not a big deal at bmt at all and i promise you will have time to do it. not worth cutting for 8 weeks of training! also they updated regs so you can wear braids down now...

So helpful!! I have an undercut and am cutting my long hair before BMT so I'll have short hair above the collar for training. This video was great to get ideas for what to do in Tech School once my hair grows out a bit. This just solidifies me that having short hair for women should be super normalize. So much easier to deal with. I would need so much gel or spray to keep anything in place though. I always have short hair but my hair is so thin and falls out easily. My ponytail would fall out easily. Won’t hold for me. Maybe a strong elastic band would work.

what if someone has shorter hair than you, it doesn't reach the bottom of the collar but the hair is wavy. are you allowed to have your hair wavy or will you be forced to try to straighten it somehow?

If I'm not mistaken you can wear it wavy but as long as it doesn't touch the collar I think it's fine. Im in Army ROTC but it may be different for Air force.

You can wear your hair whatever texture you want really, you won’t be forced to straighten or curl it either way

If you can’t tie your hair up at all do you just jell it back? I have fluffy very wavy very short hair with layers and I can’t tie it up. I can’t imagine they would just let it do it’s fluffy wavy thing.

Ok so my hair is short, but really really thick so I have to straighten it every day. It goes to about my chin, so it’s too short to put into a ponytail or bun, and long hair is just a bad experience for me. Do you have any suggestions?

Lindsey Hale in BMT you’ll have to have your natural color. Once you go operational you will be able to color your hair but it has to be a natural color and you would have to keep your roots touched up pretty much constantly

I know girls who had dyed blonde hair and during BMT once the roots grew out, the MTI allowed them to go to the base salon before graduation to fix it and be in regs.

So I'm here at Lackland AFB for tech school for security forces.. I was dumb enough to let the BX hair cut place cut my "split ends".. Home boy cut off 10 inches WITH A FREAKIN CLIPPER STRAIGHT ACROSS MY BACK !!! UGH I regret it.. I had to go back to get layers and thin it out because my bun would spill out with hair.. Honestly depends on your MTI. Regulations say yes, but my MTI was obsessed with uniformity so he would just ban certain things for no apparent reason. A girl in my flight had short hair and he told her to get it into a bun or be kicked out of the flight.... it depends.

This would not work for thick African American 4c hair. My hair is 4c and shrinks 99.9% if i put any mousses,gels, freeze sprays ect gel does not work on my hair period this method mainly works for non black people with thin straight hair.

Shehinah Wilson that’s why I mention it’s better to find tutorials that work best for your hair type and length - the purpose of this video is just to explain what is allowed in uniform and give an idea of what that looks like. The tools I suggest obviously work for me so if people watching have similar hair they might be interested in the same things, if someone watching has different hair type they know how to adjust accordingly to make a style work.
