I'm growing some elephant ears in pots this summer. There doing great but I've got to bring them inside into a cooler environment as my water bill this month was 97$! ( Heatwave from hell in GA this year- temps over 100°, little rain). Hopefully my elephants will enjoy the air-conditioning as much as I do. Great info, thanks!

Hello, thank you for your advice 😊 I've got 7 colocasias , one of them, close to about 5 1/2 feet tall, when should i repot into larger pot ?
@TheThriftedPlanter Жыл бұрын
If you start seeing roots growing on top of the soil or out of the bottom of the pot. I’d also repot if it’s been in the same pot for several years

Gotta love elephant ears. I’ve got to get one that purple color. Gotta also love Lowe’s clearance. 👍🏾👍🏾 💯 correct on those long winters. I did an experiment as well bringing in as house plants and it did wonderfully. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Cutie. I’m dealing with a lot of plant shock because 95% of my plants we’re outside this summer. My hubby is thinking that here we go again, plants are dying but I’m here to prove him wrong, haha. I increased my plant collection tremendously this past summer so I’m having a hard time with enough lightening for them. I do have most of them on grow lights 😵💫 and they are taking up most of the space I have in the family room, no room for a Christmas tree this year☹️ I really don’t need a tree this year because I’m spending Christmas with my daughter and son in Va. I’m hoping because we’re not there and don’t need the heat as high as if we’re there that most of my plants will be alright when I get back. I’m hoping that the watering I did before I left will hold them over so my fingers and toes are crossed. I REALLY don’t want to loose any of them but I do have too many so we will see what I come home to. My other daughter is living with us but she’s NOT a plant person but she vowed to me she would not let any of them die on her watch, so we will see. I can’t be upset if she fails because it was my choice to leave for such a long time. Thanks again Cutie, if you don’t put out anymore videos between now and Christmas I wish your family a blessed holiday season and a wonderful, blessed new year.🎄💚🙃

Oh I hope they all survive! but family time is way more important. Plants can always be replaced. Your daughter is so sweet to take care of them for you while your gone. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you as well!

Thanks for sharing, I think I want try d bulbs n a bag. So could u give me some tips ? I brought two plants n both planted have had a couple of limbs fall down . But I have been reading about d plant, that seem to help. Also d Pots that u grow them n. I have one n a clay pot n d other n a plastic like pot with more holes. That one with at least three holes seem to b coming alone fine. But d clay pot holds too much water. I mean it has a hole but dries slower. Please answer back on what better to do with d clay one as far as watering
@TheThriftedPlanter2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! for the clay pot I would wait longer between waterings if it is not drying quick enough. Also for pots you know will hold water longer a well draining potting mix is the way to go. Good Luck!

I’m so grateful I found your channel. Your plants are thriving and beautiful! Such a high frequency. I accidentally froze my elephant ear plant because my bedroom door opened when I was gone😭. So tragic. I am unsure of how far down to the bulb I should cut it, any recommendations? Thanks 🧚🏼🪲🫧🎀
@TheThriftedPlanter Жыл бұрын
Aww Thank you so much!! Oh no! You have two options. One cut off the dead leaves then leave the bulb alone and see if new growth springs up. It could take months before you see anything. Or dig up the whole plant and check the bulb, then replant if it seems alive. New growth could take a while for this option but at least you know your bulb is alive and it’s only a matter of time. Good Luck!

I live n Dallas Tx n it's is fall time. Like I said I brought it n they had it out doors, but I want it to grow inside d house. I got it by d window. Do u think that it might b too much light ??

In a west facing window it might be too much. If you have an east facing window the light will be less intense

Hello I'm new to this, I brought a elephant plant a couple of weeks ago, my plant is going through I guest. Yes I brought it from out door n put it n my house. It's about d size of d smaller one u showed. My question is what does it means indirect light ? N should I water one n a half weeks ??. I really want my plant to grow HELP. Thanks for your time
@TheThriftedPlanter2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! So indirect light would be putting your plant in a bright room where no sun rays touch the leaves. Some plants can handle direct light for a few hours. I would check the top few inches of soil for dryness. If it feels dry go ahead and give it a drink. You'll get the hang of it don't worry. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'm happy to help

I have many questions I got this elephant ear from a lady who didn't want it anymore. I don't know but am thinking it really needs to cut back as it is 8 or 9 feet tall. From top of soil to greenery is 2 1/2 feet of brown from leaves being trimmed off.
@circe... Жыл бұрын
What did you mean by irrigation on the plant? Is that when the leaves have water drops on them? Mine do that a lot and i'm not sure if that's good or bad. I googled but couldn't find much info so i'm constantly wiping off the droplettes when I see them.
@TheThriftedPlanter Жыл бұрын
Hello, I might have said or meant to say Guttation and yes that's when you get those water droplets. Its totally normal and mine usually drip after watering. It helps them get rid of excess water

I bought two alocasia plants they one had a few leaves and I repotted them and they are growing very fast. There must 10-12 leaves in each pot. Should just let them grow or prune off the a few leaves? Thanks!

Oooo! I'd let them grow. I like a bushy plant

I allowed my elephant ears to stay outside all summer long and they were beautiful and lush and amazing looking. They loved the sun, but after a month, I started noticing this spiderweb looking stuff on it, and the edges of my leaves are and turning brown and a little crispy, please help. 🥹
@TheThriftedPlanter3 ай бұрын
Hi! That could be spider mites which is common with this type of plant. You can get a spray that can help or just hose them off daily and it'll keep their numbers down.
