nice, it's worth noting that he is also riding more from the middle of the board, engaging the entire rail. The beauty of the well designed midlength is you can ride it from the middle, with control and still be able to turn well without having to have your back foot right on the tail, so you don't have a ridiculous amount of board in front of you. This is the key, midlengths generally have the fin cluster moved away further from the tail of the board compared to a shortboard design. You lose a little drive having the fins more forward but gain drive from the length of the rail. Its also why you don't need big side bites on a CI mid, the board is already very flat rockered for drive, combined with the rail length makes for a board with an excess of speed..

Thanks for commenting Tim! Do you have a CI mid yourself? Didn't realize the fin cluster was moved up like that on this board. I think this is the single fin version though where I'm sure Devon could slide the fin up if he wanted to make it looser.

of course add in your own flare too but there is so much you can learn from watching other surfers!
