Compression socks are for helping prevent blood clots, which can develop in your legs when you sit for a long time in the same position then rush to your heart when you stand. They don't do anything else for a plane ride and should be used in addition to seated leg exercises, elevation of the legs, hydration, movement about the cabin, and walking before boarding.

For the compression socks you've put them on too late.. you need to put them on before you travel to the airport. Your travel day doesn't start the minute you sit down in the plane it starts from the minute you leave your home and then have to walk around the airport in sit around for hours on end... I recommend try them again but this time put them on before you even leave for the airport❤

In addition to the other people telling you what else you need to do to avoid blood clots, the biggest advice is to get fitted for compression stockings. Too many people think they should fit like socks or panty hose. They need to be tight but not too tight. That is why I recommend getting fitted at a medical store. I wear them every day because I have positional swelling of my lower legs so I got them, they didn't work, I got fitted and now they work.

Compression socks work VERY well if you put them on correctly: you need to lie down on the bed or floor, put your legs up, wait for about 10pm seconds and then put the socks on, pull them all the way up to the knee or if they’re tights, all the way to the waist and only then stand back up. This is how my doctor advised to do it. And when you’re flying, still do walk around and move your ankles and knees at your seat as much as possible.

Compression socks work, but first of all, there is special special procedure how to put on. Second of all it should be out on at the morning and you need to have space for that, definitely not on board. I am always wearing compression socks when I am traveling, when I need to spend a lot of time in one position and with the compression socks I have never have problems with swollen ankles. And I also really recommending to buy compression socks in the pharmacy, they will measure your legs and they give proper size and then compression socks work
@ebonyeverything2751Ай бұрын
Lol the procedure definitely is not special, its just a bit difficult. It also doesnt require a ton of space for a normal sized fit person. Rollthem down to the toe, put over the toe then roll up the foot and leg taking your time. Not special lol.

That's such a good idea! I travel with Valium and that's nice but it only kills about 5 hours. Most recommended medication for flying? Call me crazy, but Adderall. It makes the time fly by like nothing else. I take regular flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from San Diego, California. Bringing some Adderall makes the 16 hour plane ride possible, because I just get absorbed in the movie I'm watching or if I'm writing. That is until my 6 hour layover and then another 6 hour plane ride and then another 2 hour flight after a 4 hour layover. 24 hours in flight and a total travel itinerary time of 32 hours is truly inhuman. But with the right meds, anything is possible 😅 "Better living through chemistry," amiright? 😂😂😂
