During the Sewol disaster, countless lives could've been saved if the passengers weren't listening to the captain's orders of staying in their own cabins even though the ship had already tilted at 20 degrees.

That was my thought exactly. Not staying inside the ship and in the most open area, lifevests on is probably the safest bet. Don't randomly jump off the ship, but don't wait for other people to be level-headed either.

@@zakosist you can actually use some threads and tie some weight in it (like rings or any small object that has weight in it) ang hang it on a wall. Or even great if you have a yoyo. You can actually estimate the angle of the tilt.

Many ships can list up to 45° and not capsize. Also, this only applies if the list of more than 15° lasts longer than lets say 10 min.

1. Instinct. Leave everything else. 2. Ready with life jacket 3. Ready near the exit 4. Go higher if ferry have multiple level. Go to the higher side if ferry tilted on one side. 5. Be near life boat to get your seat asap 6. Last resort jump to the water if waiting is dangerous 7. After in the water or life boat then get far away from the ferry to avoid the vortex

Also, throw any furniture into the water so u can have something to float onto in case of being stranded in the water!! Chairs, tables, ANYTHING TO HELP U STAY AFLOAT!! Fill your shirt with bottles full of air to help u float too. Even if u got on a life boat.. that furniture could help others stranded in the water who can’t swim & avoid hypothermia (if it’s cold.) Anything to stay OUT of the water !! And GET FAR AWAY FROM THE SHIP. It’ll suck u IN with its force once it sinks. And WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM!!

What is missing is what you do when the ship has tilted, you are for example in the dining room, you slide on the floor towards the wall and are unable to move to the exit door.

If you ever feel a jolt in a boat take a quick look around you and see if anything seems wrong. Then wait for instruction. If no instruction comes or you are told to stay where you are then wait a little while and if nothing is happening or the boat starts to tilt then put a life vest on and get to the deck. If any rescue team or boat is near then get close to them as in the moment their priority will first be people in the water or on the decks as they can be saved the fastest. In 2014 on the sewol ferry 300/400 people died and 250 of them were school students. The reason so many died was because the rescue operation stayed only outside the boat and all the passengers were told to stay inside the cabins or corridors. The only people who lived were those who jumped out the boat or moved onto the decks

Dp you know that why is the ship staff is putting a life boat in the sea when the ship is sinking? Bcuz the life boat is complete safety and everything you need is there like (food that will last for 1+ years,100+ life jacket) and if your scared that you will never go home...well I read in science that the life boat has a map so the driver of the life boat is sure where to go for example (you were lost in the middle of the sea with your family and friends but the great idea you can do is tell the driver of the life boat to get the map in the boat shelf and see in the map which is the closest land or place that has our way to go there and stay there for a month I guess) just stay calm and happy don't be negative while your in a plane or a big ship so nothing could happen wrong 😉😀😊

Step 1: No what you want to do is remain calm, grab a bunch of people who may be the calm ones, and tell them to follow you. Step 2: Grab only and I mean only important shit. Whatever fancy meals were made on the ship (preferably canned stuff) Gallon jugs of fresh water, flashlights, flares, batteries, blankets, walkie-talkie, satellite phones, toilet paper, Diapers young and old, sunscreen, first aid kit, (throw it all in a small tuber ware container). Step 3: Air matteress's/Rope/Pool Floatie: So this way each person will lay on one inflatable. Now you'd think what about possible fast currents. Take the rope and have each person hold onto it. Now, this is the sad part but true if somebody isn't worth rescuing don't try to save them. Step 4: Clean and disinfect then wrap up wounds as to also not alert animals in the waters. Stay still as to not alert giant unknown sea monsters or sharks, save energy, and just paddle/drift. Step 5: Do not forget to never eat soggy waffles (north, south, east-west). Look for the little dipper then follow the north star it will guide you north. Now either go northwest or northeast there's either group of land.
