My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

I had a dog growing up who hated water, she wouldn’t even play with the sprinkler. She was like that since she was a puppy. Never bothered us we just didn’t get water on her or anything. Then we had a cat and he loved car rides. He’d sit in the back window of the car and come for rides into town with us. Just sat there looking around. He ended up going missing so we think we got into a strangers car and wanted to travel. Just because what all animals doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be some of do things their own way. Like a cat who likes water, there are some out there for example. Penny is fine, she’s happy. She’s okay being in the van with her own company and that’s perfectly fine. SHe’s happy and that’s all that matters.

Always remember, It’s not the quantity of time you spend with Brooklyn. Cats spend their days at home when people are sticks and bricks. I’ve noticed that it’s been quite a while since Penny’s made a break for it. Lucky is full of familiar scents and is her territory and home base now. Cats are based in a sense of place. As you say, cats don’t run around in unfamiliar ground. It would be nice if she had a view out the window, but it’s necessary to hide her presence from prying eyes.

Matt, my cat has a whole apartment of space and spends most of her time just following me around. she has no desire to go outside or even past the door mat outside my apartment door. When we worked long hours, we left our lovely cat, Lala, at home with her water dish for more than 12-14 hours… a day. And she was fine, she loved it. Plus she did sleep 20 hours a day as she got older.

I have 6 cat's, i generally do not take them out for a drive when i leave the house. 😂 the howling would drive me nuts. When i get home they are generally waiting by the door for me. It looks like penny is well taken care of.

If Amber still has her old charger You can charge a lithium battery with a chager that does not have a lithium setting as long as the battery has an internal BMS system it will regulate the charge.

Two things to comment on... first is, you mentioned you wanted to do winter camping but needed snow because without the snow you are just camping on cold dirt.(I think that was how it went)❄❄😊Now there is snow..yay!? the second is to the people who complain about Penny being left alone....most cats do not like even riding in a vehicle so to move her around from one that is warm, with plenty of space and with all the comforts of a traditional home to one where there would be no room and at that point would be safer in a cage makes no sense. I'm gone from my fur babies for up to 10hrs., 5 days a week, as long as there is food, water and clean litter, they are fine. At least Penny has a roof over her head, is cared for and most importantly very much loved.🐾🐾❤

I too have cats (2) that are with me in the van and I take them with me for work (long haul truck driver) and after spending weeks together suck in either the big truck or the van I’m more then grateful to get out and away from them for a few hours and it gives them a break from me.

As someone who was approached by Litime to work with them life events stoped me from accepting but there has been more slop with the company pushing promotions etc. i got a new battery from their newer warehouse and bam I got a used battery. They have been having BMS issues. I believe the mini batteries are pouch cells. But the bms issues have been more hit and miss. As a member also in their active forums us users answer other peoples questions instead of their own staff. Really their slipping more and more. I hope they get can their poop in a line and get back to being one of the better companies. Little more core production and QUALITY control.

I don't know f this idea would work in Canada Matthew or not. Here in the US was facing the same mailing issue---sky high postage. (where is the pony express when you need it?). The Postal Service sold me a bulk mailing permit. I then would do all the mailing for a period of time at once. I had to put the labels on and permit number. And break the mailing down by Zip Code. The mailing per piece became a fraction of regular postal. Again, I realize we live in separate countries but it might be worth checking to see. Have a safe trip to BC.

I would not make a good youtube blogger for many reasons but one definately is I'd turn off the comments(if in fact you can do that) .. or I'd set it for positive feed back only(if in fact one can do that) I'm at a stage of life, 77 years of age and I have finally surrendered that nobody needs my input and I don't need much of THEIR input either--I like your content, I am amazed at your ability to go with the flow

It's crazy how fast the kids grow, they're like bad weeds. When they get into a growth spurt, watch out. First, they'll eat you out of everything you've got, then sleep for all hours, and then if they grow too fast, you'll hear them complain about how much it hurts. Hi Brooklyn!! Cats need food water litter box and can be left alone for a few days. They sleep 18 hours a day. Penny is a chilled cat. Being a Catlady myself, Penny is not being neglected. Just fed too much. Matthew loves on Penny more than other cat parents.
