Clearly explained with a great drill. When I get a video from Johnathon all stops on the computer until I watch these gems for my golf game. Thank you.

His videos have significantly stopped my long history of pushes( in to out swings) and compensatory pull hooks. Thanks for your understandable instruction!

That towel is a good idea. Using a long box can take a beating. The towel will never get damaged. Thanks for the video.

A box will definitely take a beating haha. My old box in the teaching bay certainly did! Although the box does give you extra insensitive to miss it 👍🏼

I've taken your alignment stick grip extension drill for shallowing the club and continued the swing so as to not let the rod hit me. Forces rotation and hands ahead and in to in path. I will add this drill. Thanks

Awesome to hear Dave. Absolutely, the stick forces your rotation. Keep at it 🤙🏻

This is what I've been working on after a bout of the hooks. Sometimes I find it hard to achieve this though because even if I have sufficient depth it is either manufactured 'fake' depth (arms pulled behind me) or it is good depth (i.e. not stuck) but my hands still have a tendency to go out a little to much. For me personally the key is getting the hands passing the trail thigh low enough. Feels like hands are really low before delivery. If I do that I naturally maintain depth, tilts , and make room for the arms on the downswing and delivery. Also, when I achieve that 'position' dynamically I feel like the only way to hit the ball is to rotate and be passive. Just struggle to commit to doing it consistently. I notice your hands are exactly where I need to be (they appear close to the trail thigh). Perhaps that was too much info but ya never know. It may interest you to hear and I thought I'd comment incase it may inspire some of your future content. Thanks for another great video and explanation.

Great info but how do you hit a fade within in to in swing path?

Love the tip, I’ll definitely try it on the range tomorrow. Never heard of in to in before. Makes perfect sense to keep hands passive during release. Just need to keep rotating thru impact. Presume it works for the driver too?

Good video but I’m not clear how you then fade or draw the ball. By closing or opening face at setup?
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf 3 жыл бұрын
The hit a fade you need the club face open to your club path at impact, and a draw you need the club face to be closed to your club path at impact 👍🏼

The same with driver but the hands will naturally go slightly less inwards naturally due to the longer arc 👍🏼

I’m struggling with consistency with the driver. Some days I’ll have some great shots. Some days I’m pushing the ball. I struggle drawing the ball because I come over the top. But irons when I try to draw I usually pull it or I hit it straight but can control my face pretty well. How can I implement the towel drill for my driver so I’m more in to in since the towel sits slightly below the ball?
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf 3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend something like a long box if you’re wanting to use the drill with driver for the reasons you’ve stated 👍🏼

Blimey - this is gold! I tried two towels with one trapped under the tops of my arms, which immediately highlighted separation as a function of stopping rotating. Absolute gold - thanks! 😁👍🙏⛳️🏌️🍻
