@MarkCrossfield chipping sometimes is trash. Struggle with longer irons time to time. I spend 80 % of my range session with scoring clubs. 9 pw 50 54 and 58. 15 percent driver and maybe the other 5 with longer irons or hybrids

This video was exceptional! The basics! So many YT vids cover power power power and brush over the fundamentals. I'm for sure a reacher and it's leading to a lot of toe strikes (I mean the very very end of the club!) as I'm just too far away! Off to give this a whirl today!

Really good video Mark; for me it was stretching for the ball. Result I was coming over the top and slicing! Now, I’m not perfect yet but I’m more consistent and much straighter ( even the odd draw!!!). Thanks

One thing I found that has helped me with driver is lifting the club head off the ground at address. It encourages a higher trajectory, more distance, less fat shots and seems to get me a cleaner strike.

Hey Mark. Very much value your advice, the golfing sage of our generation! I’m at a point in my golf where I’m ready to commit a substantial financial commitment to my golf in wanting to purchase a custom fit set of clubs. With so many folks out there keen to fleece me and eager to stick to a buy well buy once philosophy as I will likely only ever have this one chance. What is you advice. Where do I go, what questions should I ask. What red flags to look out for?

I suck at driver and it’s driving me crazy, especially since I hit my irons almost too straight with a great ball flight. Driver, everything about it feels wrong for me. It’s almost like I forget how to even swing a golf club and I’m always in my head. Once in a blue moon everything clicks and I hit it very good, the other 80% I feel like broke down robot

@atamagashock Man I hate when you have the days the driver swing just feels out of whack. You can tell your body just feels out of position at times durring the swing. Causing fear of the driver. Love the days where the confidence is there and your hitting the driver into 15 yard windows 280 down the fairway. Man chefs kiss those days.

I too suffered as you did until I came to realize it is more than just adjusting your iron swing slightly by just tilting your shoulders a bit (advice from a former golf instructor….i fired him) setup and swing tempo….very important but. You need to take it to the range until you figure out what works for you. Hang in there!

You have described to a tee, exactly what I’m going through. Even 3 months ago driver was right the down pipe, easy without even thinking of it. Now it’s like I don’t even remember how to swing one or what good contact feels like with a driver. Shot an 81 yesterday and didn’t have a single drive that even felt like a decent strike. Irons, chipping and putting were on point. So very frustrating. I’ve reached out to a pga pro to hopefully take a driver lesson here lol. 8 handicap and can’t mentally or physically get the big stick going all of the sudden for the last 3-5 weeks.

All brilliant pointers. One I have to remind myself of each time when getting the shoulder tilt is to make sure I haven’t opened the shoulders as well as tilted. Do you see this with many players @markcrossfield?

I tore my oblique a month and half ago, and went to range after 1 whole week of zero swining (at the range or with contact with balls) and my swing with my driver wasnt the same. i couldnt figure it out. but after this vid i realized it because of the distance between me and my club.

I’m a stretcher. When I move the ball closer to my feet with the driver I feel stuck and can’t make a nice wide swing and I feel too steep. Is this something I need to persevere with to improve consistency of strike ?

Brilliant Mark. Struggling with driver for 6 months with a big fade. Losing distance. One question. With driver are hands in front when hitting ball or hands behind the ball strike? What's is hand position on set up please?
@IverKnackerov

Hands should be in line with left arm and left shoulder. Straight line from ball, thru left hand, left arm up to left shoulder
@peterscott1498

As already mentioned in the other reply to this question. Where mark has his hands at adress ready to hit the ball is where your hands should be at impact He has another video a few months ago on release. So if you hold on to the driver so hands are ahead this leads to open face contact so a slice Golf is fine margins as you probably know
@nickskerrett5240
@nickskerrett5240 3 ай бұрын
Except for the arm position (stretching) I was literally working on this the other day, at the range. As well as picking a target line asd my routine, it definitely helps. I still don't know what the driver head should look like at address. If that makes no sense to you Mark I guess I mean should I be able to see any of the face in the same way you can see more on a shorter iron. I'm probably asking more about loft in a way. I find myself thinking my driver face isn't down my target line and will fiddle with hand position until I think it's square and by then I usually figure it's taken too long and just sund it.

Yeah, many many have this same issue lol. It is a disease. I think when we get the big dog in our hands we tend to really want to send it, we do! This promotes going after the ball trying to really crank it. This leads (for me anyway) to drag the handle through way ahead of the club head not releasing soon enough.. Can we say push slice lol!

Actually is quite the opposite. All the tour pro grip the driver more firmly. Bryson for example. The trick is to not choke the life out of it.

@scallywagturk I do i have 118 mph club head speed . 170's ball speed and carry 280 plus yards on the regular. Im 47 with only minor coaching. My issue is pushing on the trail toe toward the ball on occasion. Nothing to do with my grip. If my grip was that loose I'd loose the club head through impact. I know I've tried the baby bird grip. For me that only works on chips pitches and putting.
