Good morning from Australia, thank you for this video. It was very informative. I can give your viewers a firsthand account of switching from Ozempic to Mounjaro. I was on 1.5 mg of Ozempic and after consultations with my GP (when Ozempic ran out of stock in Australia at the same time as Mounjaro was released) we decided to switch to 5 mg of Mounjaro. This was immediately more effective than the 1.5 mg of Ozempic. The side effects were very similar, for me, that includes constipation, a dry mouth, and a little bit of fatigue the day after the shot. After five weeks of 5 mg, I decided to try 7.5 mg. For me, the 7.5 was quite a bit stronger and I found it difficult to eat anything for the first four days after the shot. After two weeks at 7.5 mg, this week I decided to drop back down to 5 mg. I still feel great appetite suppression and no food noise in my head, although I am able to eat a bit more. For example, I take my shot on Fridays and on Saturday didn’t want to eat anything. On Sunday I managed a protein shake and a little bit of ravioli, and on Monday I had a salmon sushi roll and a bit of leftover ravioli. It’s Tuesday morning, and I am drinking a coffee with light white milk, half-and-half milk to water ratio. I will have a few tablespoons of yoghurt with a little bit of rolled oats sprinkled on the top for breakfast and see how I go. I have decided that I am going to stay on the 5 mg for as long as possible for two reasons. One, 5 mg seems to be very effective for me and Two, here in Australia, as you increase your dose of Mounjaro, you pay more money as it is not on our pharmaceutical benefits fund and the drug company can charge what they like. I believe in Canada it will be the same no matter what dose you are on. As Dr Dan has said in the past for those of you in Canada like we in Australia, Mounjaro will come in a single use vial which you can draw up into a very small needle to inject yourself. For those who might be watching in Australia, as there is a price differential, I currently have a prescription for 15 mg, and I am drawing up a third of that to give me my 5 mg, which works out to be less expensive than if I had a prescription for the 5 mg. You have to be confident in drawing up medications to do this as the amount of liquid you draw up and inject becomes very small when taking a third of a dose. Good luck to everyone who transfers over. I am so far extremely happy with my switch as I feel the new medication is more effective with the extra GIP molecule in it, and more importantly, we can actually get Mounjaro in Australia, while Ozempic is still in short supply. I am losing weight about 1.1 kg per week and so far lost 23.5 kg in the last 11 months. Slow and steady wins this race and I am lucky in that my skin has gone back so I do not have excess skin, which I did have when I got a gastric band and lost weight very quickly. A tummy tuck and breast reduction took care of the excess skin at that time, but slowly over 15 years, I gained the weight back (the band eventually failed, and I had a gastric sleeve instead but was never able to repeat the weight loss). I intend to stay on this drug for the rest of my life as for me, Obesity is a chronic lifelong problem. By the way, my goals, keep shifting due to the effectiveness of these drugs. I did want to get down to a healthy BMI (I am now 1.1 kg away from that). I am thinking another 5 to 10 kg is possible, which would set me up for old age very nicely. Also, for those of you not familiar with the metric system 23.5kg is around 52 pounds.

Thanks. Very informative. I’ve been on Saxenda. Which was good for me. I lost 11 kgs. My Dr said to switch to Ozempic. I’ve just started after actually getting an ozempic script and starting dose of 0.25 mg & now realise that Ozempic is not readily available in Australia. So…I just found out about Mounjaro now. Your post has been very helpful. Thanks again.

I am on 2mg of Wegovy (use flexipen) and it's not supressing my appetite. I have lost 18 lbs over 7 months. I am very tired on the wegovy and as I have so much more to lose I have decided to switch to Mounjaro. I am so glad I watched your video. Here in the UK most of us have to buy it privately we rarely see a doctor it's all online. The recommendations are wait 4 weeks to get wegovy out of our system and go to lowest dose of mounjaro. I would probably gain all the weight back. Thank you Dr Dan!

Hi, I’m in the uk too and the company I use have approved and sent my Mounjaro, they have advised 5 weeks break. I was on 2.4 Weygovy but no wight loss for 8 weeks so felt I was wasting my money, been on it since March and lost just over a stone and a half, lost that in first 8 weeks though. Could I ask, did you have any break at all when switching? Aldo what dose did you start at? I I’ve had a two day break so far and dubious, but I don’t want you to wait 5 weeks x

@@user-wb8ih9dg4g I have two doses of Wegovy left in my pen which I will take. I will probably wait a couple of weeks before I start the Mounjaro and then start on 2.5 mgs. I think if I waited 4 weeks I would definitely gain the weight back. Good luck on your weight loss 🙂

Thank you, Doc for getting straight to the point you answered my question. I was on Ozempic for almost a year and lost about 30 pounds but stopped working after a while. It kind of reached its peak and switch to zep bound. My dock said even though I’ve been on the other for a while he recommend 2.5 or 25 units for four weeks and I had another doctor. Tell me he’s just trying to get you to stretch it out so you’ll end up having to get.

Very helpful information. I've been on Ozempic for 17 weeks with no weight loss. However, it has helped my diabetes. I've been on 0.25 for 4 weeks and 14 weeks of 0.50. This week Wednesday I start 1MG Ozempic and I'm hoping it will reduce food noise and help me lose weight.

Sorry about the no weight-loss… study after study seems to confirm that it’s more difficult for T2D folks to lose weight on these meds (though many do, and plenty of it). An additional personal observation/anecdote is that many T2D ppl seem to need somewhat higher doses in order to lose weight. Perhaps Dr D can confirm/deny. 🤔
@edgaracevedo9658
@edgaracevedo9658 9 ай бұрын
@@cloakster I read somewhere that some T2D seems to produce less GLP1 than normal people so the medication kind of replaces the lack of GLP1. Thus a higher dosage is necessary for weight loss. The dosage I was taking never triggered the slow stomach emptying thus I continue to have a normal appetite. I did see my doctor on Thursday and he said some of his patients have lost weight with 0.5MG of Ozempic while others needed to go higher. I took the 1MG shot on Wed 11/29 and two days after injection, I don't feel as hungry for the first time. Lets hope this dosage continue to work for me. My doctor sent a refill for the 1MG and the pharmacy is out of stock and asked him if he wants to prescribe something else. Hopefully they will have it in stock when I finish the remaining 3 injections on the current pen or if not, it's mounjaro 5MG as per the advise of this video.

Due to shortages I switched from 7.5 Mounjaro to 1 Ozempic. I did find that side effects were a bit rough. I also found that diabetes control was not as good. I added metformin and have stayed on 1 Ozempic. Side effects have subsided. I would rather be on Mounjaro. I’ll go back when shortages end. This is useful. I’ll probably be at the weight I want to be before I get back on Mounjaro.

Great video thanks! I am going from Ozempic 2.4mgs after 13 months and 30lb weight loss, 5 month plateau, to Mounjaro 2.5mgs. My Dr said to supplement with Jardiance as I titrade up every 4 weeks if my blood sugar needs it with the lower dose as I am a Type 2 Diabetic, but to start Mounjaro with no Jardiance and see how it goes. As soon as paperwork application is approved I will switch over. Hopefully availability will be better than Ozempic in Calgary.

My application for Mounjaro insurance coverage was rejected but the pharmacist said she will fill my Mounjaro prescription with a 20% discount so I will pay $360CDN in Calgary out of pocket if I decide to switch from Ozempic which is covered by my insurance. My A1C went from 8.6 13 months ago to 6.6 now and 30lbs lost but 5 month plateau so I am contemplating if I should switch to Mounjaro even though it is not covered for me.

The Pharmacist said that because I am at 2.4mgs Ozempic for 13 months and I will start at 2.5mgs Mounjaro and tirade up every 4 weeks that it will likely take months before I see weight loss because I am starting at the lowest dosage in comparison to the highest dosage I am currently on. Do you agree or could I lose weight right away when I switch to Mounjaro? Thanks

I am starting with 4 weeks of 5.0 mgs then 4 weeks of 7.5 mgs then meeting with my Dr to assess side effects and if to continue titrading up at that point. Can you please do a training video on how to use the syringe with vials for Mounjaro as the plastic pens are not available in Calgary right now. Thanks!

Nice vid, Dr D. 👍 And the specific advice makes tremendous sense… for instance, the weight-loss results for 5mg Mounjaro/Zepbound are pretty similar to what you get with top-dose (2.0 or 2.4mg) Ozempic/Wegovy. The potency seems to be roughly on par, so kinda makes sense to start there when switching. (Though you could see how someone who’d been on say 2.4mg Wegovy for a long time with minimal side effects, and was very ready to titrate up to a higher Wegovy dose that doesn’t currently exist, might wanna try to start on 7.5mg MJ/Zep. But, caution is very understandable… similar meds are still not the same.) Look forward to the ‘Here’s how you inject yourself from the Mounjaro vials’ vid for all the fortunate Canucks who’ve gotten their vials already (aka ‘Escape from Ozempic’). Though the fraction of same who’ve injected insulin probably know the drill already. 💉👌

Excellent explanation On Ozempic.5 went on Mounjaro 2.5 for 2 months then back to Ozempic.5 because of cost. From what I'm understanding you feel Mounjaro is much better than Ozempic from your past videos. Is it worth me spending more $$$'s or is it because Mounjaro is easier to get. I've lost 30# but nothing lately. Maybe go up to 7.5 on Ozempic. Little in put from my Dr. Whatever I want.
