Guys if you wanna see the tags for a design on Red bubble, you don't need to actually click on the design. You can just click on the little i on the bottom left of said design and the tags will come up. That way you can stay on the same page and see tags for different products without going back and forth ;)

Hi Zen, as always, thanks so much. These are great tips. At the moment, I'm uploading a design to both TeePublic and Redbubble. I just noticed that Redbubble is recommending 15 tags now (right on the upload form). I'd been uploading 25 tags according to your advice to "split the difference" between 15 (what a lot of bloggers recommend) and 50 (which Redbubble actually allows). If Redbubble's recommendation to only upload 15 tags is new, I suspect they're trying to align it with TeePublic, which as you know they own and has a hard limit of 15. Anyway, my question... If I'm uploading the same design to both platforms at relatively the same time, and I'm going to upload 15 tags to each platform, would it make sense to use all of the same 15 tags for both, assuming they're the "best" 15 tags, or should I maybe use at least two or three or five different ones on each platform? What do you do in this case? Thanks in advance... ☮️ Peace... Jamiese

That's a great question and I don't think there is one stock answer. It would depend on the quality of the tags (in my opinion). So if you think that 15 tags casts a wide enough net that most searches would include those words... then I agree with your strategy!

First off, I'm a total novice to the POD concept and to the far, far left on the learning curve. Recently, I stumbled across your across your channel. I immediately recognized that your content was both cogent and well-produced, so kudos to you. Yes, I've already subscribed and have left likes. Anyway, while browsing some Public Domain websites for ideas, I stumbled across of some dartboards. Our grandson's birthday is coming up and I can make him a t-shirt. Why not present it to the rest of the public? Well hell. don't know squat about the game, so went on Reddit and asked in that subgroup. In no time at all, I had some keyword suggestions. When googling suggestions, there were a good handful POD sellers that showed up on the very FIRST page. BTW the google glossary proved helpful I've learned a lot (alas, but have not yet totally assimilated) by following Zen. Beholden to you, Zen, for sharing your knowledge. I, too, am a strong proponent for paying it... eta: I sure am hopin' that YT notifies when content is added in the comment sections.

How does search works in terms of product title or description vs. tags? I see you repeat words in tags that are also in the title. Do tags get priority in search algorithms? What about words in the description?
@zenwatercooler3 жыл бұрын
Yes that is a great question - big picture, tags are a bit of a mystery (because only Redbubble truly knows which tags work and how). That having been said - I've repeated words in the title and heard peple say "don't do that" - but I've gotten sales so I will keep doing it anyway.

Question - If designing say a shirt I see all over sellers adding in t-shirt into their tags ie, dog t-shirt - Is this recommended as it looks like Google grabs an indexes the tag page...or is just dog good enough...as it makes me think that same design on say a mug would need to be a separate design just to add dog mug as a tag - or am I overthinking this?
@zenwatercooler3 жыл бұрын
Yikes that is a big question - there are hours and hours of SEO deep dives so I'll try to answer it really short (apologies to computer nerds everywhere). Google will look at the whole web page (featuring your dog image and text... the tags) and then when people Google a phrase, and they click on your result, that "maps" a win. So if you have a tag "dog t-shirt" and Joe Schmoe Googles that and then CLICKS ON YOUR LINK - that is a "win" and it moves up in the Google rank by a tiny bit. So I WOULD recommend putting in "dog t-shirt" and "dog" as 2 tags because there is a chance that someone is searching for that specific tag.
@theColdFramer3 жыл бұрын
@@zenwatercooler thanks that’s what I was thinking so then technically a mug with the same design would actually be better as a separate RB design since I’d be tagging for mug “wins” as your putting it

I saw some seller using tags like this for example: dog lover, dog lover dog love dog lover dog lover dog lover dog lover dog lover, dog mom- They repeat words like that like one sentence, and i saw this so many times in trending topics. They always appear on the 1st page or 1st row.. is that recommended??
@Jivolt3 жыл бұрын
Never ever ever ever do that. Tag spamming never works and Redbubble will throw those way down the search results.
@huntrrams3 жыл бұрын
DO NOT DO THIS! The algorithm will find out you’re spamming and looks bad for the artist and their store.

Thank you for the great video, btw, i also encounter other redbubble youtuber that the more tags you put on your uploads the less chances it will show up because of the redbubble algorithms or something. And they recommend just 10 to 20 tags as much as possible. What do you think of that? I would highly appreciate your reply, thanks😊
@zenwatercooler4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a good question - we don’t really know for sure since Redbubble does not share the information so I can’t say the other KZbinr is wrong. I can only say that I have used lots of tags and then searched by those tags as a signed out user - and the designs do come up.

@@zenwatercooler As I read Redbubble blog it mentioned information as follows: "Don't Use Too Many On Redbubble you can add up to 50 tags to any artwork. Try and aim for at least 3 - 5 tags, with 10 being a good chunky amount". How many tags do you use? Please reply.
@zenwatercooler4 жыл бұрын
@@angelbeing2240 Yes it is a good question - I can't say that the Redbubble blog is wrong - I would wonder why we CAN put in up to 50 tags but we "aren't supposed to". I would guess (and it is only a guess) that they don't want tag spamming (just putting everything and anything in there as a tag). So I will add the caveat that when I say "use a lot of tags" - I am saying use a lot of meaningful, accurate tags. I have used lots of tags and then searched by those tags as a signed out user - and the designs do come up.
