I’ve read that when does the Majesty Palm’s leaves start to turn brown, it’s usually because of lack of water. If the leaves start to turn yellow, it’s because of the lack of light. I don’t know if your Majesty Palm is going to do well where you have it. They need more light. Mine did well for two years, but then I got a new door that had a Low-E3 glass, where not as much light got to the plant and it started to go into decline. I put it outside but it withered in the heat. So, I transplanted what was left into a smaller pot, and the leaves died within weeks. All I have now is a little spike that might develop into something. If the days are short where you live, you might want to give it some artificial light, as well. Good tip on dusting. Dust probably has a sun or light blocking affect on the plant. Another thing you could do to clean it, is put it outside when it rains. Good luck with your Majesty Palm! If it dies, I read the Parlor Palm is easier to care for.

Trimming the leaves like that it’s a big No! No! I use to do that and sure it looks nice the first 2-3 weeks but then once it starts growing more you will see from where you cut it from it will start drying then bleeding in to the leaf more and more and it simply will look dry if you cut a lot of them “dry” prices of leaves. Short term gain long term loss !
@black.butterfly21142 жыл бұрын
So do you cut the whole leaf off? What do you do instead?

Use an old wine bottle fill with water tip it upside down in the plant and it will take moisture as it’s needed and keep the soil moistened! Maybe put a couple drops of fertilizer in with it.

Majesty palm is difficult to care for indoors. I lost three of them in a matter of only months. I've grown many indoor tropical plants, these were the only ones I couldn't do anything with. I now have a parlor palm, it's doing really well.

Thanks so much for info. How long do you leave it on the rock/water humidifier ??
@zp9442 жыл бұрын
This plant prefers 40-50% relative humidity. If your home stays at that humidity level, you don't need the rocks and water. But if your home is around 10-15% humidity (a typical home less than 15 years old) you'll want to leave the Rocks and water there at all times

Thank you for the tip on the placing of the rocks. I will try that with my palm. I also learned over the years another great tip and that is to gently apply mayonnaise on the leaves. In doing so, the plant just pops. It looks healthier and prettier. Another trick I use when trimming the brown and or yellow part of the leaves, is I trim each blade in the same direction as the leaves are growing. The only difference is the leaves look smaller and you won't have the just been 'cut' look. Thank you for sharing.
