..among all the freshwater fishes that I'd kept, the Oscars are one of the most unique/different from the others. Other fishes like to swim and hiding at the branches, ,woods etc, but, the Oscars doesn't, they always waiting in front of the aquarium glass begging for foods, watch the people around. Maybe because they're were different from the others makes them to be kept by some people 😊, it has different characteristics if comparing to the other freshwater aquarium fishes that I'd kept before 😊

Are they aggressive when cleaning the tank? Is hand biting an issue? You said their teeth are in their gills, so I'm guessing it's not a big deal.
@Thirsty4Thirst3 жыл бұрын
God no. They are gentle giants and if they are biting your hand when you clean they are food deprived most likely.

I have 2 oscars and 8 silver dollars in a bare bottom 150 gal 5x2x2, with overkill filtration........I would never keep a single oscar in anything less than 120 gal 4x2x2.......they say 75 gal min for 1 oscar, some say 50 gal min, but im experienced enough in keeping these fish, and they get huge. A 14 inch fish needs adequate space.....you wouldnt buy a dog and lock it in a small room for its life, but people thinks its ok to do it to fish....sad
@Thirsty4Thirst3 жыл бұрын
I'm getting a 5x2x2 tank soon as well but I don't see the appeal of just 1 fish in a tank, imma put some thicc bois I'm there with my future Oscar like severums and my blood partot

@slickchick58114 жыл бұрын
No way too small. Oscars get huge make a lot of waste and are territorial. You're looking at a 125 -150 for two minimum and that's assuming they get along.
@shannanjames78895 жыл бұрын
you should never feed fish to other fish. fed them pond pellets. that in humane to the fish
@studo92174 жыл бұрын
Im curious what fish eat in the wild?
@aesthetically_bound4 жыл бұрын
@@studo9217 Most freshwater fish do not eat other fish and most thrive on the environment around them. That said, many carnivorous fish actually eat insects and do not solely rely on other fish. Wild fish are also very different than the cheap, neglected goldfish at pet stores. It is dangerous for the Oscar to feed on live fish as well as contribute to aggression issues. Overall it is a shit practice and not in the best interest of the Oscar.
