I know you've probably already figured out the problem, but if you want brighter picture's try turning the recommended setting dial one back to the one with he more faded light. It also explains it to you on the directions with a chart. Hope this helped.

I use hi key for indoor low light photos. Usually the indoor setting only illuminated the subject and darkens the background. Indoors in the dark, using the hi key setting will also allow the background to be visible

Hi, I've been having major problems whether I should cover the flash or not. I tried taking a picture of a sunset using Instax Mini 8 with the flash and it turned out looking like I didn't take a polaroid of a sunset at all. It just looked bright. +wearelife As long as your Instax is not opened in the time the film is in there, the film will be fine. It is light sensitive, so just don't open the back of the camera where the film is.

You might've covered up the light/color sensor (I don't know exactly what it's called- its the two dots to the right of the flash- you're not supposed to cover that up.

Victoria Pritchard it shouldn't be completely washed out, but you can try putting it on a setting or two before to make it darker, so whatever he recommends try to do a setting before that and see what happens. If your photos are still coming out very washed out then it could possibly be an issue with the camera and you should contact the place you bought it from. I hope this helps!

Brilliant idea about the business card case, I may do that with my photos too! I normally carry a backpack around with my film in it, but it may be easier to open the box the film comes in and put the individually wrapped film packs in your pockets to save room. Just don't take them out of the silver wrapper before you shoot, but you probably already knew that. Any time an Instax is involved, it's awesome fun. loan nghiem If it's somewhat dark outside, the camera probably won't pick up the colors of anything properly, and would turn out dark or with purple patches.

Try to cover the flash when you take photos of sunsets or far off things. If your subject is 3-5 feet in front of you it's ok to use the flash settings, but if it is further back then the flash will wash out the photo and you won't be able to see them. Any setting with longer exposers would be best for sunsets.

+Beautiful Sarai Black tape is best for blocking the light, but any colored tape should also work. As far as outdoor photos, you will want to put it on a setting darker than what it recommends, at least, to get a better exposed photo if it is really bright. I also have a ton of instax videos on my channel, the one on taking photos with instax at the beach may be helpful, if you get time and want to check them out.

We used to hold a folded handkerchief over the flash to control the amount of light. The more folds, the more light reduction. We used to use colored handkerchiefs, too. Is anyone doing this anymore?

I have the instax mini 8, and I tried taking a picture of christmas lights from across the street, and the sun was setting but it wasn't really dark out (still pretty light, but kind of cloudy). When I took the picture, i just waited for the film to develop, and the sky is black. Like the entire photo is black, besides the christmas lights. I didn't cover the flash or anything, and it was on the home/indoor setting because that was where the light was. Should I have put the camera on a different setting?

I own a 7s and in my experience light and shaking don't do anything to help your picture develop... Because the 7s don't come with a sensor like the 8s do, its harder to guess which setting to set it to. if your picture turned out dark, its because you used one of the sunny settings in a dark place. Its really just guessing with the 7s ^^ Hope that helped~

+wearelife It depends on the lighting. At night just make sure that your subject is a few feet in front of you and the flash should be fine. Night photos are hard because if the subject is far off then unless it's well lit it won't show up very well or at all. Indoor photos are similar, if your subject is a few feet in front of you then flash is ok but will give you darker edges on the photo, but your subject should look just fine, however if you have good lighting then it doesn't hurt to cover the flash or turn the flash off if you have the Instax 90.

Hi, i hope you still check your comments. I have a few questions. So i've had my camera for a while (since April) I haven't cleaned the lens once and I have NO idea how to clean it.. Tried to look online for tips, or a video on youtube but can't find ANYTHING. How exactly do I need to clean it? What products do I use? And is there any cleaning products I can buy? Because, my photo's are coming out quite blurry and not as clarified as they was before so I think it's time my camera has a clean (even though I dread it so much! I don't want to ruin my camera) Also, I'm having issues with the exposure of my camera. I don't know if it's the cold or? The lighting is VERY off.. I've tried different settings but it still doesn't come out properly.. It comes out either too bright or too dark. I was in Amsterdam and was gutted I couldn't take any outdoor photo's as everything just came out too dark (I have lovely pictures of the sky though ;))

That is strange, it could be an issue with the camera. If you are able to exchange it then I would. I use a LensPen to clean my camera lenses, but the Instax lens is very small, so I don't know how well it would work. I hope this helps.

Can you take night photos with the Instax mini 8? Like for example if you took a picture of Chicago with all the lights at night, do you think that you could still see the buildings and lights ok?

Photos like that are hard to do. You would need long exposure that the 90 has and even then you'd have to be perfectly still and it may not do well even then. Nighttime photos are tough with instant cameras.

Emma Potato if you're looking through the viewfinder it's gonna look a but different than the picture so I would recommend gettin it lined up through view finder first and then move it a little to the left and up

This is a really really late reply but you have to tilt your polaroid slightly to the right and tilt it up a bit too because what the viewfinder sees is different from what the lens sees. I'm sorry for any grammatical errors if I have any lol

Yes, make sure that your subject or whatever you're taking a photo of is close to the camera, 3-5 feet from it, otherwise the flash will overpower the image and they won't show up well. Also be sure that if it is possible that there is good lighting wherever you are at. I hope this helps :)

are you not opening the back part after putting in the film by any chance? if you do, it exposes the films to light and they get white before you even take a photo. after you've put in a new box of film, never open that part until you've used them all. shaking won't help with this, that's for actual old Polaroids that use ink to stain the picture

+wake bake If you inserted the film correctly where the yellow dots match up then the only thing you can try is exchanging your camera for a new one because that shouldn't be happening.

Make sure you are putting it on the setting that lights up on your Instax camera or automatic settings. If it still won't take a good photo it may be the camera and I recommend returning it to wherever you bought it and getting a new one. Instax takes good photos so it shouldn't be coming out dark :)

It shouldn’t do that. Make sure you loaded the film properly first. It could be the pack of film or your camera. If it is the camera try exchanging it for a new one. The photos should not come out all white.

I took one yesterday, and the whole entire photo was white and you can see only a corner of my shirt it sucks but any advice would be helpful, I tend to have a few blurry shots when taking pictures of my dog too because she can't sit still lol.

Matia Ortiz it should light up when the cameras turned on and tell you which setting is best if you were using the Instax mini 8, the mini 90 cannot do this.

+Jojie Ann Rathsam Hey! This happened to me a while back. I suggest you check the back of the camera and there will be a tiny screen on the bottom right that shows how many films are left on your pack and if it shows 'S', it means that your camera is not ready to click a picture. Then check the peephole as there should be a little light flashing when you put your camera on. If both the light is not there and the 'S' symbol appears on the film count, then I am guessing you should change your film pack and try. I did that and my camera worked but the other film was wasted :( You must never take out the film pack from the camera once you've put it in. Hope this helps!

+Jojie Ann Rathsam when the camera is blinking, it is deciding what setting is best to use. When it is blinking, aim the camera as if you're about to shoot. Then the light will be solid on the setting the camera should be on. Change the camera to that setting, and shoot! I prefer to wait until the picture starts printing before I move away, to ensure it doesn't go blurry :-)
