Not a fan of using Luminar to replace skies. It's gonna introduce second guessing every image all the time and that's really bad for photography in my opinion. Also I feel like this video is an ad for both Luminar and the ND filter company, forgot its name. I much prefer your actual image and what you had to do to get it, even though it's obviously far from being perfect. I used Luminar at some point and was amazed at its functions but it kind of made me take worse pictures because I knew that I don't need to try hard to get everything right because... you can always fix it later in post processing. I wasn't thinking: "oh man I can get here another time when the weather is more dramatic." For me, it turns out, that's the reason WHY I shoot landscapes. It's the procedure of getting out no matter what that's been degraded. Edit: Also look at the pillars. You can see the glow effect that plague a lot of instagram over processed images. Luminar is cool for amateurs and beginners.

Excellent tut. Eventually all comes down to discernement. The proportions between the large zones of the whole image and their internal composition, the forms that are included. Thus, the forms of the first artificial sky, the round ones, were disturbing when put in relation with the other large zones as the water, so the choice then of the smooth clouds solved this issue. This is the final discernement of a pro.

I am pretty sure Kase also makes magnetic filters. Also an addition, if you cant get 'long enough' car trails, instead of a ND filter you can just take a lot of exposures, and add them together in photoshop. A doubling in exposures doubles the effective exposure time, and reduces the noise by half. For example, taking 8 shots (1 doubled 3 times), at ISO 800, 1 second and blending these 8 in photoshop has the same effect as a single 8 second exposure at ISO 100. This might not seem very useful, but this does allow for taking longer exposures hand-holding a camera (by later aligning the frames in photoshop, then merging). It also allows for as long exposures as you want on a tripod without carrying an ND filter. Although sometimes it might take an unreasonable amount of shots to get it.

@batsonelectronics4 жыл бұрын
A few places here on YT have disproven that over the years. ( actual testing of Nikon, Cannon, and Sony at different ISOs and getting the same final exposure ) Starting with a close exposure has less noise than a base and just lifting it up in post, in RAW. Some cameras are better than others on this but it was shown for most, get close with exposure is the best bet.
