My biggest hack is to not bother writing lecture notes in the lecture. I use the lecture to understand or get a beginner understanding. I record the lecture and transfer the file onto my laptop. I then use the recording and presentation slides the lecturer uploads to make the notes.

Sapphire Williams yh I thought she was fishing for compliments because why else would you repeatedly go on about “my hair is a mess” “my eye brows are a mess” “sorry guys I’ve broken out ..” like honestly she is immaculate all the time yet she finds flaws she does it with her education when she goes oh “it’s been a hard term” yet she comes out with 71% and a 1st I find it really infuriating because if you really suffered mentally there’s no way you can do that well consistently in OXFORD exams she is definitely seeking attention

1. Color coordinate your notes so key words/phrases jumps out at you. 2. Remember to write date, day of lecture, module lecture is on, and Title on the top/beginning of your notes. Also best to page each paper to make sure you’re notes are going in chronological order. 3. Don’t worry about notes coming out messy. You can revise the notes later. Try and get the heat of the message/lecture down while in class. 4. Revising your notes help you consolidate what you went over in your class. Therefore helping you remember what was brought up in class. When you revise your notes that’s when your color coded system will come in. 5. All of the super super specific details while taking notes aren’t really needed. Just need key points. Have to ask yourself if you need that.. Ask yourself if you can see yourself applying the knowledge into something I’ll use later? If not trash it. Really, you could write it down just in case and while revising take it out if need be. 6. Write down your notes in own words in bullet points and dashes. You could be caught for plagiarism applying the same words from your prof to an essay, seminar, etc. 7. Make your revised notes more concise for when final exams come and you revisit them. Make flash cards. Put sticky note on top of notes of key ideas of said lecture notes. Gets your brain to pick out the essentials and weed out the nonsense

I write my notes in concise ways. Key words etc. Then, I go home and print the lecture slides and read them in my own time. This makes it enter my brain again. I then add my lecture notes to the slides when I print them, so it has the original content, then my synopsis underneath it. Doing this ensures I don’t miss anything from the lecture slides, but also makes me link content. I then staple the slides and my A4 paper of notes together, so I have two different types of notes. My notes, and the lecturers notes.

That’s one of the “smash in the face” things that are really different culture by culture. In Italy is a NORMAL THING FOR EVERYONE (or maybe was... I’m 38 years now😅), as for example for Italian speaking about time, it’s absolutely NORMAL refer to the pm hours as e.g. 1pm as 13 or as 4pm as 16. I found out it was not the normality or everyone else in the World by watching the movie “Baywatch” when Matt Brody (Zac Efron) says “We will see hear al 9pm” and Summer (Alexandra Daddario) replies “You meant 21 as the military’s way to say the time from... ever”.

@@981maggie my relatives in morocco also write on squared paper! I think it might be a European thing? (Morocco is very French influenced)
@981maggie
@981maggie 3 жыл бұрын
@@imanf3882 yes I'm sure is a European thing or however connected somehow to the Italian and French education or school systems like the other European systems are pretty different than ours. For example, we use to have so many interviews other than written exams for each subject, and we can have both interviews and written exams in multiple subjects every day not just in particular periods. in addition to that, normally our teachers do not tell us when they will call as for an interview so you must be always prepared and they do not manage with the other teacher when to plan an interview or a written so often it can happen that we can have 2 or 3 written exams and 1 interview the very same day. and you are not allowed to complain anything about that, because this is the system and you must adapt yourself to that. And the school day begins at 8:00 am and finishes at 2.15 or 3.15 pm (the lunch break does not exist because most Italian families want to eat together after when the children are back home from school) with just 1 break at 11:00 until 11:15 and that's it. You cannot eat or go to the bathroom in other moments, just if you are not feeling well and if it happens often, you must show a written paper from our doctor where it's proven that you have a health issue and that's the reason you cannot follow those rules.

I totally agree with everything you have said. I was at college in a lecture type class. I found writing up my notes the same day helped with memory recall at that time, also later on as well. I also used the same colour coding in my revision textbook notes, so I knew as soon as a I saw the colour what it meant right across the board. I didn't find square paper until recently - it is awesome for note taking. Paperchase do some great ring bound square notebooks and Ryman do the A4 exercise books as well.

In line with your BIC spon, their 4 colour pens are honestly the best way to take colour coded notes quickly in a lecture, as you can just flick between colours rather than switching pens 100 times!

Big fan of the Quadrille-Ruled notebooks and there are larger square options. Used them throughout schooling and now work. I was a fan of the waste book method that comes from early accounting practices. You take a notebook with you to lectures and elsewhere and use it up regardless of the subject or the context. You do not have to be neat or worry if it gets wet or spilled on or even lost as it gets discarded when full. As soon as possible transfer the notes into the subject specific notebook or binder or computer and color code and organize as wished.

my year 12 biology class was very much a 'lecture' style and quite frankly i just gaveup trying to make notes pretty so i would just sribble everything down, make a new set of hand written notes (near exams i moved to typed to speed it up) that 'dumbed' it down enough for me to understand it easily and then put this on flash cards with 'trigger' words highlighted. I guess this is still the way to go haha

Brief note of what this video is saying in Farsi.
