Bio: My name is John Williams and my birthday is May 4. My parents did not plan that, but it is a reality I have to live with. I was born in the panhandle of Florida. I grew up in a traditional southern Baptist environment. My parents taught me to love and serve the church and had me there every time the doors were open. I was saved when I was 12 and discovered my call to vocational ministry when I was 19. I went to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and have been doing full time student ministry for 8 years. I have avoided doing lock-ins for all my time in student ministry and I wear that as a badge of honor. I currently serve as the Pastor of Next Generation Ministries at Pleasant Valley Community Church. I have been married for 11 years to my beautiful wife Emily and have 3 boys named, Murray, J.B., and Luka.
At Rooted, we have a heart for children to develop faith in Jesus Christ that lasts. The most influential factor in determining whether a child will attend church as an adult is an accurate understanding of the Gospel- God’s unconditional love for sinners through Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are equipping leaders and parents throughout the country to practice gospel-centered youth ministry in the church. We long for every child to hear the gospel of grace, be taught the word of God, be mentored and discipled, and be prayed over and for- through their church and at home each week.
