I've used this kit before for shower over bath and for shower tray. I put the bath or tray in first, sealed it to the wall then put the tape down onto the edge of the bath or the tray before applying the tanking. The disadvantage is that it can create a lip, causing the same issue you described as the sealing strips but got round that by not putting a full bed of tile adhesive at the very bottom of the tile. It all then gets siliconed in to seal it up. Quite fiddly to get the tape on to the tray without it showing and avoiding getting the tanking gunk on the edge but masked it off and it was ok. Interesting to see how you have done it!

I'd hate to be using this stuff over installed trays and baths! 🙈 It's easier to just paint the floor when you drop some 😁

@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT yea good point... I think I kept the vinyl wrap on the tray and taped it in place so avoided that but it is impossible to cover with paint... I got some on the ceiling when going right up to the edge and had to cut it out and patch it in the end!

Hi, Thank you so much for your videos. What primer did you use?

Hey thanks for the video. I Recently removed the old tiles from the shower area but the old tiles adesive didn't come off its rock solid like cement, I tried steam to remove it but won't work. I want to install some aquapannels like you did but instead of fixing the panels with screws I would like to glued them on top of the old tile adhesive . Do you think that's OK to do? Looking forward to your advice.
@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT2 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can treat them like a big tile and stick them to the wall with tile adhesive. I would probably use a few mechanical fixings though (masonry/concrete screws) just incase

Pull offf the dry wall and replace with a cement board It's just not cost effective. If it's a block wall. That's a different story.

If you’re not fitting a wet room then why are you taping to the floor? The shower tray should be taped to the wall…

Stopped watching when he said he would use mastic as it wouldn't leak 😬😬😰😰 I am a plumber and it WILL leak in time , EVERYTIME
@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the first 5 minutes 😁. Are you saying you would use one of the rubber seal kits and then never replace the silicone when it fails? I'm assuming not. It won't leak if I replace the silicone as and when it fails. I'm not going to just let it leak am I 🙄

@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT why wait till it fails as it will and cause damage ? I am a plumber and get calls constantly will this issue, it won't happen when the sealing kit is out around the shower tray . The people who claim it won't leak are the people who don't get the phones calls when it leaks
@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Жыл бұрын
@@shaneshankly4518 I'm talking about the silicone between the tray and tiles, once that fails then the water can either get to either the rubber seal kit or the load of other silicone before it gets under the tray and causes other damage. So as soon as the first silicon lifts you replace it, not wait for it to get underneath to the seal or other silicone. Anyway like you said, you're a plumber, not a tiler. I explained why it has caused me issues so I will never use one again. You only get call outs for this because morons don't replace the silicone on the outside once it seperates.

What sealing kit around shower tray are we talking about ? Classi seal that sticks to the tray sides then wall or no more leaks that sticks to wall and drops down onto the tray? Which was problematic Aiden and which do you recommend Shane? Thanks guys
