A tip I personally use since I have judge dredd magazines and the bags often have enough room above for this method. Tuck the sleeve inside the bag and then use a paper clip to seal it shut. Doesn't hurt my comics and keeps them sealed and easily accessible without tape :)

Be careful with that method, if the another comic happens to be in contact with the paper clip, it can slowly put an indent in it over time

Great tip, however, you may want to take note that if storing books tightly in a box, that tape tab can press into the comic behind it leaving an indentation similar to what a polybag does. I've had this happen to me. Be careful not to pack it too tightly. :)

thanks for the video topic! I am a huge believer in 2 pieces of tape as I hate it when the bag flaps flip up. For personal collection 1 piece is likely fine, but I sell inventory as a vendor at comic shows and your bagged books in boxes get pulled up and down constantly by customers and if you don't have 2 pieces of tape the bag flaps will flip up. As i never know if a book will move from personal collection to selling inventory I just put 2 pieces on all of my books.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I totally get what you are saying and agree completely.. dog ears are the bane of a collection if allowed to happen

Pull tabs with painters tape is must for storing, and packing comic books.

Yes yes yes.. I swear, if someone ships me a comic with packing tape inside a Gemini again....

I use resealable bags OR Printers tape.

Those resealable bags annoy me for some reason.. they seem to stick to everything while I'm taking books in and out

Here’s a trick guys, place your tape diagonal with it pointing towards the Center of the book. Thank me later.

I never tape my comic bags. I just place the plastic fold between the backing board and the inside rear of the bag. I wrote this on another comment and someone said that my way will not protect the comic from water damage. However any water, comic bag taped or not, is never good in my opinion. To me, it is a waste of tape and not necessary in my opinion.

What you are doing may very well be the future of collecting. I mean it does seem ridiculous to have tape in the same room as a comic, right? Maybe someone needs to invent something specifically for comics and other paper collectibles.. maybe low-profile velcro bags? lol

@@ImproveCollectingComics The simple thing i do does not bother me. I remember the early days of tape and how it practically disintegrated and kept a gooy mess on both the flap and back of the bag plus stuck to the next comic behind it. Yuck.!. That is what made me eliminate tape, PERIOD. As you can tell, I hate tape.😁

I just spend a lot of money on good Mylar bags and don’t want to mess them up if I have to take the tape off to look at the book. I just fold the plastic over and leave it
