I can say with 100% certainty that cut bait is king for yellow cat in the big rivers down here. FRESH is the key, as in, killed it with the filet knife fresh!! No exceptions, especially for the big ones. Bon Peche my friend!!!🤘🤘

Love your show!! I'm in Michigan and the best night of flathead fishing I've ever had the water was 49. 31 flatheads in 2.5 hours with two guys. Caught everyone casting lures at schools of shad. My favorite fish to catch. Hands down

I have caught lots of flathead catfish on cut bait and whole (dead) shad so don't get discouraged if you can't get live bait. I mainly fish the Alabama River, largest two I've caught were 55 and 64 lbs, both caught at night. Good luck and great video!

We have been fishing an electric company dam, from the bank around 75 ft from the turbines. They’re hitting crappie jigs on 1/16 oz hook under a bobber 3-4 ft out. Caught an 11 lb yesterday. I’ve caught several on the 3” white curly tail grub as well, fishing for bass.

I love your videos started flathead fishing summer I fish from mid June to mid August I caught about 35 flathead biggest one just under 32 pounds sometimes I’d fish bout 8 hours I’d like to died it was so hot I just fish during the day caught all on cut bait except one it was on a live bream I’m fixing to get after them again I always fish by myself not many people as crazy as I am cause it was so hot anyway I can go on for hours but I’ll let you go

I live in appleton wi and we have the fox river run threw town here we have a hard time getting chanel cats sometimes there seems to be a more dominant flathead population here they dont all seem to be the biggest but i got a 24 pounder on layborday would u be kind enough to give a rundown of what temp difference between where your fishing and here cuz i wanna know if theres a point we should stop fishing in Wisconsin here cuz its so cold here. most people say fall catfishing is the best i just think our year is offset from down south here currently its 68 degrees in the water here ruffly

Caught a 21 lbs. flathead this morning on cut bait, caught a 30 lbs on Monday doing the same thing. I’ve been doing so much better by switching from live to cut bait.

You switched from to live to cutbait? Flathead almost never eat dead stuff. That's surprising you're having success on cutbait for flathead.

@@austin27049 I am just getting into it. But I have yet to catch a flathead on live bait, fished live and cut side by side, and all of my fish have come off of cutbait, i still throw live just in case, but thats just my experience

@@jvdfishing6560 Oh yeah I'm not doubting you. It just surprises me. Usually flathead only like live bait cause they're not scavengers like blue catfish and channel catfish, they're predators, so they pretty much rely on sight to feed, usually meaning they target live bluegill. But hey, if it's bringing you success keep doing it.

All the flats I’ve caught have been on either a live blue gill or crappie or shad,or a blue gill head with some crawlers or a leech. I’ve never had any luck with strawberry chicken.

You add a worm with the cut head? I've only caught them on bluegill head aswell, never a live one though I throw one out every time aswell but will try the worm, do you only put one large one on or what?

@@davidlankford6432 I certainly do and yes a big ole fat one or a leech because they have some movement when under the water. That’s just something I’ve always done and have had luck fishing like that. Never had luck with yellow bellies either.

But not really necessary. They say that flatheads scale the fish before eating them and the biggest flathead that I have ever caught didn’t even care he inhaled it and the fight was on.
