I would love to see more of these 'how to teach' videos. Clank, ulm, terraforming mars next. Good job.

A very useful video. I really like the method you outlined here. You should think about doing Anachrony next!

Used your teaching technique, mainly the "starting selling cattle" and worked like a charm!

I like the sound of this. How do you think it would work to give everyone 2 certificates at the start and then actually have them perform step 5 in KC too? The majority would end up in Wichita or Colorado Springs with an occasional Santa Fe with a really good draw but that will be mitigated by train-crossing costs. You might also need to give them the option to remove the example disc (so it doesn't block) on their first "real" trip to KC but by then they should understand the +/- of doing so. Seems like that would even out luck of the draw issues, demonstrate the importance of certificates, trains, upgrading player boards and shorten the game a bit more. I think I will be teaching it next week, is it a bad idea to try this?

I like it. Any chance you give the players to start "flipping switches" will go a long way in their understanding of the game. As long as they don't place a token permanently during this first Kansas City tutorial run then I can only see it benefiting their experience

Starting where you started is madness. They don't have any concept of what the game is and you are teaching cattle delivery? The first thing you need to teach is the broad concept. "We're going to be taking our cowboys along this trail from the start to Kansas City and delivering cattle several times over the course of the game. Along the way, you can stop at buildings to take various actions such as hiring help, building buildings, and buying better cattle. When you reach Kansas City each time you'll deliver cattle you have in hand and those cattle will get shipped along this rail track. The quality and variety of your cattle, and how far you are able to ship them will all impact your rewards for the cattle drive. Then you'll go back to the start and do the trip again". In no way should you ever begin explaining any game without some broad concept explanation such as this first.
