The 7 year old I’m working with right now use to pick up her feet just fine then sat for a year and lost it so I’m going to try this tomorrow on her🥰.

Thank you! Everyone’s been whacking my horse to make her do this. She’s 14 and knows how, but I think she misunderstands or something. Whacking is a temporary fix and hasn’t done anything (I also refuse to whack her, she has trust issues and has been terrified of touch lately) so I’m planning on doing this. I now know that forcing her to hold up her feet when I finally got them was doing more worse than good.

What should I do when I ask my horse to pick up his feet and he leans on me before I even pick up the leg he starts to like try to squish me

Stop and push there neck and shoulder over a little and have them lean on there other foot.
