How to Tell a Beautiful Story: The Tale of Joseph in the Qur’an (Dr. Ingrid Mattson)

In introducing the Surah (Chapter) of Joseph, the Qur’an says, “We will relate to you the most beautiful story.” What follows is a tale with suspense, drama and complex characters. The motifs of dreams, shirts and hidden objects woven throughout the narrative point to the theme of the illusory nature of the world. This is a story that requires the engagement of the imagination to understand deeper meanings, which is appropriate, as it is only by employing the faithful imagination that a believer can see himself as he truly is.

As an Arabic speaker, there is no doubt that the Qura'n words are the words of god. It is not hard to distinguish between human's words and god's words. when Qura'n translated to other languages the power of rules and information stay the same, but the eloquence and words choice will change. In my view to the stories of Qura'n are not only narrative stories, if you look closer you will find these stories contain moral lessons, rules of religions, information, sermons, etc.

so you think god is a racist idiot who believes in flat earth? if you read the quran well, you'll see that it is just another gospel, debating the divinity of Jesus, or Isa many very hostile verses were added over the years but the quran most certainly is not the word of any god and if you know other books, you'll see where the quran is copied from the good verse in the quran is surah 2:256, and in surah 109 we also find the teachings of Isa, the educated Jew but in my view, the versions of biblical stories in the quran are very shallow, corrupt and superfacial. if you also know the bible, you know for a fact that your comment is wrong all of it

@@worfoz You are assuming the Bible is the word of God, and you believe it. By exactly the same token Muslim believe Quram is the word of God thru His Messenger. I think both may well be the written word of God revealed. But you are entitled to your opinion for sure, which doesn't make it true.

Holy Quran esp.Surah Yusof was revealed Muhammad SAW so that it may be lesson to the later generation like the stories of Adam A.S.,Nabi Noah A.S.,Nabi Musa(Moses)A.S.,Nabi Isah(Jesus)A.S. etc. so that it may serve as good example of being a steadfastness,faithful to the creature who send them to this world and to the unbeliever like pharao shal be a lesson to those tyrant leaders who are punished and drawn by the Almighty God.
