Yes you're correct imo and also the original battery slide cover has a rounded bottom edge and doesn't look depressed. The original has ridges at the bottom but none on the battery slide cover at all. Mine was bought from a tool shop that is a Mitutoyo distributor.

Thank you for posting this video. I wasn’t sure if mine was genuine or not, but it looks like it is. That’s a big relief given that they were quite expensive. I’m sorry your seller was unscrupulous. I wonder if Mitutoyo would give you a free caliper, or at least a big discount, if they knew about your video.

Just got one from Amazon. On the bottom of the case there is a MADE IN JAPAN stamp from molding. Also, the "ABSOLUTE" is spelled out on the battery cover and not on the actual caliper underneath "Mitutoyo". Mine also didn't come with foam padding inside the case. Just the hard plastic case.

The signature doesn't mean anything any longer. I bought from an official Mitutoyo reseller and the signature looks like a photocopy/electric copy of a signature. yes no play in the jaws and yup everything lines up perfectly center and the locking nut on mine doesn't come out all the way. As you also mentioned it had no battery installed and was a SR44 Battery.

Nobody is signing those papers by hand in genuine Mitutoyo. They produce tens of thousands of theses. All Mitutoyo will have printed material with electronic signature. KZbin is full of these misinform from people who bought fake ones and only assume what genuine item should be.

In another video they point out the battery draw is 4 times what the real Mitutoyo has. And it drops in 1/2 when the display is shut down on the real one and and doesn't drop at all on the knock off. In the end you get what you pay for. Thanks
@MF175mp3 жыл бұрын
The battery life is a small thing if it would be otherwise good. The knockoffs would be great loaners so that the guys don't beat your real ones to death.

@corbin723 жыл бұрын
But again back to using calipers for tight tolerances is no good at all. I usually only use calipers when cutting raw stock or tolerance beyond plus or minus .003. I am very found of older Mitutoyo or Starrett micrometers. The craftsmanship of vintage mics are just not met by any new metrology equipment, though the later models are great just not as good as earlier models.
@MF175mp3 жыл бұрын
@@corbin72 the vernier is the type of scale used on the most plain calipers where you have 2 sets of lines with slightly different pitch. The tenths scale on a micrometer is also a vernier scale. I also have a protractor with a vernier scale and one might be found even from a machine dial and various other things. The accuracy of the best measuring tools is getting higher all the time by the way. Semiconductors for example require pretty good technology as the transistors are sub-microinch size. Actually closer to tenth of a microinch...

It was clear that this was a fake at first view. Mitutoyo plastic mouldings are of the highest quality. I have two (used to be 3 but left one on site) Mitutoyos and two fakes. Fakes chew through batteries and have low resolution. If you want quality then pay the money, you'll wince at first but you'll never regret it.

Dude... SR44, LR44, AG13 are all interchangeable batteries and are no indication caliper is a fake. Pushing excessively hard on the thumbwheel will definitely change the measurement when the jaws are closed. You have no business advising anyone since its clear you do not know what your talking about. AG13 (Eurobatt): Alkaline battery with 1.5V, 0.9V nominal, and cut-off voltages, with a capacity of 130 mAh. LR44 (Murata): Alkaline battery having 1.5V, 0.9/1.2V nominal, and cut-off voltages, with a capacity of 130 mAh. SR44 (Murata): Silver oxide battery with 1.55V nominal, 1.2V nominal, and cut-off voltages, with a capacity of 155 mAh. 357 (Energizer): Silver oxide battery having 1.55V, 1.2V nominal and cut-off voltages, and a capacity of 150 mAh.
@IsiksTech Жыл бұрын
The batteries may be interchangeable but the supplied battery is supposed to be the same. Silver oxide batteries cost more, so they cut costs by supplying cheaper batteries. As for the pushing on the thumbwheel, true. But this was worse than expected.
