I wish I had seen your video of symptoms of pain in dogs earlier. My little baby had most of these symptoms. He was 12 years old and was diagnosed with CHD. Well, he reached 13 and a couple days later, I let him go (euthanized)… It was and still so very "hard" for me... he was my buddy. I am still second guessing myself. BUT your check list has made me realized he was in a lot of pain... And, even though it breaks my heart, I know now, I did the right thing by taking him out of all that pain and misery.

@jjholl00 I came here for the same thing. I guess it's the best thing for him. One thing is knowing he's outlived the average life span for his breed. I honestly think it's actually the best thing for him. He's definitely in pain, judging by the Dr's check list. Dementia, arched back, sleeping, flinching, breathing and heart rate. I have to be at peace that I'm doing the right thing.

My 14+ year old Rottweiler-Chow mix dog shows ⅔rds of these symptoms despite being on Tramadol, Gabapentin, and Carprofen. I'm frustrated because the vet won't provide stronger pain relief so we can have a little bit of quality time with our dog before she goes across the rainbow bridge (to what I call "the doggy planet" where all our dogs are free of pain and with their doggy friends and having fun while waiting for us to visit some day). It hurts me to see her in so much needless pain to where she cannot enjoy her last days with us. Sorry for venting. She is my 'best friend', been there through so much with me, and she's attached to me as her 'human'. I know I'm not alone with having so much love for a furrychild.

I’m watching this because my 10 week old dog started limping and my bf thinks he’s faking it and I’m super concern (lost a 6 month old dog so I’m kinda traumatized) He would limp, but then walk and run just fine. Last night he yelped and was just laying in his bed. I checked him(looked up how to do a little physical exam at home) and he looked fine. Went back to sleep but woke up with his yelp and checked him again. When he gets picked up by his chest he’ll Yelp/cry but other times he won’t. He’s too small to jump on furniture but would still be jumping up and down. His poop is a soft. 1. Limping☑️ 2. Stiffness❌ 3. Slowing down☑️ 4. Trouble getting up❌ 5. Jumping + Climbing❌ 6. Reduces activity☑️ 7. Sleeping☑️ 8. Difficulty settling(hard to tell) 9. Weight Gain(hard to tell) 10. Less muscle(hard to tell) 11. Reduce interaction☑️ 12. Flinching❌ 13. Aggressive❌ 14. Reduced appetite❌ 15. Licking one area☑️ 16. Unkempt coat❌ 17. Accidents(he’s a puppy but no) 18. Body position❌ 19. Wide eyes 20. Breathing +heart rate❌ 21. Grumpy❌ . . Update: he is a lot better, I would switch between a cold and hot rag on him as he slept and limited his movements. He’s a lot happier but I’m going to continue to watch him incase it comes back(the limp)

My Yorkie was born with a bum leg. Basically the joint in his knew never separated and he walks around as if he has a peg leg. As a result he puts more of his weight on his other leg and it looks to be bending a bit unnaturally. How ever he's one of the most energetic hyper friendly dogs I've ever seen. At least with people, not the biggest fan of other dogs. Occasionally he does move a bit slow but he can and will got from 0 to 100 in an instant and acts as if nothing really bothers him. He's still relatively young but Im afraid of what we may have to do once he starts hitting senior years. I've talked about getting him some sort of brace but rather or not I'll have the funds to keep him around another few years or have to let him go in the future is up in the air as of now.

Honestly, the signs in hospitalised dogs are much the same. Vocalizing, kennel guarding or showing aggression, flinching, and not eating. You will soon learn how to read them better and one big tip is to trust what your nurses/techs are telling you. They have a huge amount of experience and are a really valuable support to any student or vet at any stage of their career

My Daughter had 2 beautiful long haired dachshunds. Last year one died at 16; the one that is left is now 16 also, she is blind and deaf, still barks, (doesn't like ME at all, never has) I never did anything to upset her. My 30 year old Grandson, has been taking her outside, at least 4-5 times er day to do her business. She still eats and drinks, but doesn't walk that well, she is very slow and often stops in her own , tracks, and just stands there. Her teeth are pretty much useless/gone; she gets lost and goes Willy-nilly through the hallways. 11:18 My Grandson has to pick her up, and carry her to his bedroom to her doggy bed.
@pamelakoester734 Жыл бұрын
He doesn't know how much longer he can deal with her extreme issues. The first dog was having seizures a couple in a row, so my daughter took the dog to the vet, to have her put down. This one is really uncomfortable, but does not emit and sounds of pain. She has accidents, in the house and when my grandson went to remove feces which was caught in her fur, she went to bite him, she didn't but was warning him. So the family is hesitating on having to send her to the rainbow bridge, my Daughter says it's not up to Her, to make that Decision; my Grandkids are at a loss as to when it's time to let her go. I am on the sidelines; my thoughts go unheeded. I however think it's ASAP.

My dog is 17 yrs old soon to be 18. She has a lot of the symptoms but not all. She's not agressive and still eating just fine. Just not sure when it will be time. She can't tell us. I don't want her to suffer. I'm afraid a trip to the vet or to the groomer would cause her to much stress at this point. She used to love life after being groomed. They told us last time we took her they didnt want to do it because it would stress her. That time we took her elsewhere. She loved it. About 1 1/2- 2 yrs ago.

Doesn't happen often but when it does she justs sits down for a min then shes good to go. Not the normal after a potty kicks but very similar even though she she might just be moving through the house. I don't know maybe they go numb sometimes. Age it happens to us all. I will take her to the vet though. Thanks

My dog this year has started to show what I think are early signs of being in pain. Recently sometimes he limps on his right front leg and sometimes he does seem stiff and some nights he will have moments where he trembles and he does lick that same paw he sometimes limps on quite a lot. And recently he’s shown signs of restlessness. He experienced a broken bone in that leg last summer and he still has the plate used to fix the break in him and I’m wondering if that plate is causing the pain. He’s gonna be 9 in January. Yet at the same time he can still run and jump on the sofa without a squeal of pain. He’s never vocal about him possibly being in pain. I honestly don’t know what to do. I don’t want the plate removed cuz it protects his repaired bone. Someone please help me

sounds like she could have patella luxation where the kneecap slips out of its groove. This can definitely be painful and in some cases it's best to fix it surgically - something to chat to your vet about

@Our Pets Health Is there anything for pain, My Dog is in labor
@mrennie51582 жыл бұрын
My dog has almost all of these and he's only 4 😞 He's had bloods done and checked out repeatedly by our vet and there doesn't appear to be anything we can treat or fix
@OurPetsHealth2 жыл бұрын
have you tried a pain killer trial just to see if that helps? If the bloods are AOK then there is very little risk in this and if you notice an improvement then you can put it down to pain
@mrennie51582 жыл бұрын
@@OurPetsHealth I will give it a try - I was hesitating because he's so young and I wanted to solve the cause rather than just "cover up" the cause with pain killers but, now could be the time to try some basic analgesia, I have been using heat treatment and more rubs and cuddles and shorter walks and they only seem to be getting him so far, he's still very stiff and limping towards night time. He's by nature very very active he's a Springer Spaniel and doesn't like to be idle! I will try simple painkillers 👍

What does it mean if a dog is biting stones on one side of their mouth?

I’m currently in a lot of stress because I’ve been taking care of a 6 week old puppy and he doesn’t have any shots yet cause the vets say he’s still too young. He’s been chewing on his feet a lot lately and when he sleeps he shakes sometimes or starts pouting. Each time I try touching his leg or feet he tries moving my hand away. I don’t know what to do.
@OurPetsHealth4 жыл бұрын
Has he had a recent flea treatment? A lot of puppies will twitch a bit in their sleep so as long as he is otherwise bright, eating well and gaining weight then I wouldn't be overly worried about it. If he's unwell though, or has other problems, then I'd be trying to get him checked over before his first vaccine

Your dog might be having some kind of allergy issue ! I went through w/ that a lot ! Some foods like corns so on cause allergic problems ! So,check the ingredients & feed your dog w/ o those most allergic food ingredients & narrow it down ! Please change the diet gradually as otherwise can trigger diarrheas ,other issues ! Or like the vet saying fleas can be the reason ! My sister's dog had the skin itchness issues ,too ! She fixed it as goving her special diet ( w/ less allergens ) & adding some prebiotics ! Good luck !💜💜💜💜🥁🎵🐉🎤🎶💖💕💞

Our dog has a swollen leg. He's been brought to the vet and prescribed anti-inflammatory drug for two days. Other than his still swollen leg, he seems like his usual self. I often see him whimper though. Is that him saying he's in pain? With the current lockdown it's difficult to go to vet. 😥😪🥺

It sounds like he is still in pain. Try and keep him rested and it may help to apply a heat pack - give your vet a call for advice as they should be able to give you some suggestions even if you can't take him in again
