They smoke the entrance and puff under the cover before doing anything. After that it's impossible to recognize the roar, find the queen or learn something useful... that's bad practice. I can see the nervousness and nasanov gland, roar... but, like you i have experience. You have a great channel, beautiful queens... i wish people realize how much they could learn from you.. especially about good beekeeping practice for back yard beekeeping

Thank you so much my friend! As long as folks keep an open mind they can learn alot. And yes the smoke can change everything before the hive is even opened!

Don’t bees fan to spread the pheremones of the queen when you put a swarm in a hive box? Maybe I was taught the wrong thing. Your videos are really informative by the way. Really good 👍🏻

The nasonov gland has it's own phermone for orientation, that clip of them butt up fanning was from a swarm. They aren't fanning the Queen's pheromones. So perhaps in a queenless hive they would be doing this on the landing board/ entrance to try to guide the queen back home or attract one from the area.😀🐝
