I made a comment on your "intersex surgeries" video, where I noted how I am not intersex but have a similar condition which led to my reproductive organs (ovaries, uterus, etc) being removed. I remember being told by my parents growing up to not tell people I didn't have a period, or couldn't have kids, and to keep it quiet. For awhile I hid that side of me, but the past few years I have embraced who I am and learned to love it. Some girls I tell are even jealous of my lack of period 😂. Though I'm not intersex, not having a period or reproductive system is stigmatized and can make me feel like an outcast, or like people will deny me for it. Thanks for the tips and the solidarity 💖

Thank you so much for your videos!!! I'm binge-watching them now! I'm not intersex, but I hate how society tends to invisibilise and patologyse intersex people... everywhere, but specially when it comes to sexual education at schools and medical care. i watched a documentary about intersex and since then i've been fascinated at how society has hidden this sex from existence. So often you hear the bigoted argument from some that there is 'male and female' and that's it, anything else is basically made up in their minds. We should learn from the get go that there are (at least) 3 sex's on a spectrum. I feel so sad for intersex people it has been hidden. I actually find intersex exciting and beautiful - i can't explain why, i think because it blows all of societies expectations out of the pan! i hope one day we can live in a beautiful world accepted of our differences and i feel like when i watch your videos we are already headed there. Also please continue making videos! X

Thank You. I use to think I was Trans But my chrmosones are 46XY-45XO The doctors had all these names and finaly came to the name MGD. To me it was a relief to know at last who I was. When all the names they told me I was this or that, to come to know was a feeling of peace and weight off my shoulders. The names always sounded so close to each other it was so confusing. I did not even know what intersex was when I was first told. I did not know what Intersex was that's how lost I was. It was kept secret from me that I did not know allthough I knew I was not regular man or woman. To know is power as well. I finaly have a name I can say, but the journey was long and it is like now that I know I can put it to rest and take a first step in a new life.Hard to describe but good. I can take that first step knowing who I am at last.

Hey, so uh, [some number of] things: 1. Background music in this video is great. I'm a huge (okay, normal-sized) proponent of instrumental background music. Great stuff. 2. You mentioned having a lot of sinus infections before, so if you haven't heard of this wacky procedure that sort of expands parts of your sinus cavity, I have a few family members who had it done, and it's really helped them. (It'd probably be helpful if I had the name of the procedure or something, but I'm not that useful >

Recurrant sinus infections can also be a consequence of dental issues like impacted wisdom teeth. I sufered for years and then 'outgrew' the sinus trouble. Something that may have been good to address (and if not, please correct me), but isn't safety also an issue? I know for gay/bi/pan people, safety is really pushed and especially trans people (because of the larger stigma, especially with partners). I feel like intersex people face stigma from a similar place as trans people (I know at least one or two intersex people are on some TDOR lists because of that), so it seems to me like safety would be a priority to consider. I totally respect you not putting that as the primary focus bc this channel is about normalizing discussion/overcoming stigma. But these are just some of the things I think about. Thank you so much for making this channel! I've been having a hard time finding intersex resources for my LGBT+ group and this channel will be a great direction to point people in!

I understand its point of view, but as I was born biologically hybrid it makes me intersex independent whether I can reproduce or not (subjects born XXY independent if they identify with masculine or feminine in the sense of gender identidde, they are infertile).
@dionnefreitas897 жыл бұрын
Honestly, this nomenclature is not false or wrong, there is an entire intersex movement arguing and fair with science showing the existence of intersexual states, whether it is a third sex or not, we will see, but that is between the sexes is not We have more than 40 biological intersexual states. I am a woman and this is obvious, being trans is that I had to fight not to receive a hormone therapy that was not against my mind, I am intersex, my the condition that I was born is known as an intersexual state, but before anything else, I am a woman.
@dionnefreitas897 жыл бұрын
(If only from the biological point of view) would have to be xy and everything corresponding to that to be male, and xx and everything corresponding to that to be female, I see no other name that Would characterize people who are born biologically breaking this binarism, honestly. And in this sense I think of a third biological sex to name these people as activism has been doing and how medicine has been treating lately. Now the third social gender that has more to do with the juridical aspects serves to recognize non-binary social identities (masculine and feminine) where these subjects break this characteristic, as for example, the hijiras in India, the muxes in Mexico, the two spirits between The North American Indians, Kuntha in the Arabias, Fakaleiti in Tonga, Fa 'Afafine in Samoa, Kathoey in Thailand, Mahu in Hawaii, Virgin Sworn in the Balkans, transvestites in Brazil and Latin America etc, and also protect intersex children with ambiguous genital Mutilated as children and further on, thus being able to "opt" for the genre that most identify or stay as they came into the world, not including in this "category" trans / transsexual people who totally identify with the opposite sex assigned to the birth in order to re-designate themselves (Civilly and surgically in most cases) to this being not a third social gender.

I've mostly just gotten tired of telling people, mostly because I've found that no matter how I seem to tell people they always act like I might as well be some kind of alien from a far away galaxy. Hell, maybe I am but I'm still tired of those kind of responses like 99.99% of the time. Is there really a smooth sexy way of telling someone worthy of knowing or have you found just being matter of fact and straight up with people like you describe in your video to be the best way even for people you've known awhile and/or have become more intimate with? Is there any way to avoid the million questions at once based on the presentation?

I wish my parents, both adopted, and now my biological were supportive of me finding out that I was intersex. Sadly they are not. It’s ok though, I am self sufficient, and I don’t mean to sound cruel, but I don’t need their negativity in my life. I will finish my transition in a couple years, and all will be great.

How could someone not want to support their child, and help them through any situation, no matter how tough?
@2tall2handle16 жыл бұрын
James West well really it’s simple. When they are ultra religious, and believe that God doesn’t make mistakes like me, then maybe it would be different. Sadly it isn’t, and this is also why I am why I am an agnostic. I’m transitioning, and I will be what I should have been if the doctors had not interfered when I was a baby. I hope this answers your question. Feel free to ask more if you want.

I thought eventually everyone who has it had to eventually had to have surgery. It's good to know that not everyone has to have surgery. It's nice to learn because I've always found this so interesting but nobody ever talked about it in the past. I became really interested when I watched an episode of House where a beautiful girl finds out she also has male genitals inside of her. They said the most beautiful woman is also a man when they were talking about this girl. You look completely feminine where some people look masculine too. I wouldn't mind having it if I had it the same way you do. You don't have underarm hair, you don't have body odor... Etc.. I hate my body hair and I have stress sweat that makes my right underarm have odor and I pack in ten pounds of deodorant, I have hot flashes since I got off deodorant 15 years ago, my skin oils up..... I don't want to have babies so I'd be fine with your version of it. LAWD... These hot flashes....

Hi Emily, I love your videos, I have so many questions! I hope you will post more and more of them. I hope none of my questions will be offensive in anyway. I was wondering as you say that you are intersex peron, do you see yourself as a intersex peron or as a female, who happened to be intersex or don't you put any label in to gender identity of yourself? Could you, please make a video about law, legal aspects and rights of intersex people in your country (what is USA, I guess) and maybe outside too. Like what will happen if a person doesn't want to be seen in documentation as a male or female. I cannot wait to see more of you. Much love. Pete.
@stephaniemoore80132 жыл бұрын
Shes technically biologically male according to science. Certain intersex conditions only affect males(like CAIS)and other conditions only affect females. According to sources no female has ever been born with CAIS. Its a sex disorder that affects ones Y chromosome. It causes testosterone to not be used in the body and that testosterone(created by the internal testicles) turns into estrogen. Im pretty sure this person sees themselves as a woman despite being male. Totally understandable actually.

I had no idea this was a thing. I'm a heterosexual single mom to a little girl and I try to stay really open so I can teach my daughter to be open and loving to everyone, despite any differences. My question... why does this not happen to animals? Are there animals who are born with both genetalia or varying degrees of male/female chromosomes? Why not? I always thought this was a deformity and I'm happy knowing it can instead be an embraced part of regular life. So just for the sake of asking the question that newly educated people are wondering (at least I imagine they are) "What is it that makes this NOT a birth defect or genetic abnormality/deformity? What changed that idea? Is it because people are embracing who they are? Or is it because they believe this is just another form of gender and this is as normal as any other gender?" I am not at all being critical or intolerant. I just want to really understand.
@peepslostsheep7 жыл бұрын
" My question... why does this not happen to animals?" It does. There are even some that can change sexes. A popular example is clownfish. All clownfish start off as male, and develop into females later (Parrotfish do the opposite). They are fertile in both stages, but they only make the one change. Blue banded Gobys are able to change back and forth. Generally, you will not hear it called intersex among animals, but different types of hermaphroditism, chimerism, gynandromorphism, or simply by what condition the animal has. Emilord has AIS, Androgen insensitivity syndrome. This can also occur in animals. "What is it that makes this NOT a birth defect or genetic abnormality/deformity?" It is a genetic abnormality. In Emilords case, her body does not react to androgens, such as testosterone, so she developed outwardly as a female would. Despite that, it is still completely legitimate. As a side note, gynandromorphism is really interesting. Especially bilateral gynandromorphism. I highly suggest looking up some pictures, they can be quite stunning.
