I had a female that would whistle at me everytime I got out the shower. Lol. Stuff like this is why my wife hated my baby. I got mine when I was 10yrs old and she lived till she was 21yrs old. I found her one morning and I was so devastated. I had tears for hours and I know my wife hated my bird with every passing moment. But on this day, even my wife cried. My wife wanted to do everything she could to make me happy. She even offered to go to the pet store 3 hours away and get me a new baby bird. I said no, Bell was the only bird that I'd have. She was my best friend and helped me through some tough times. Everyday we would sit at the kitchen table. She was so fun to watch as she tried to tear my books up while I did my homework. I knew that she was a girl whenever she surprised my wife. My wife called me at work and said that there was something wrong with her and she was doing something weird. Then called me back to tell me she had an egg. I said wow I always knew she was a girl. Lol. About 15 minutes later my wife called me back cause my bird had done chased her into our bedroom and she was scared to get out. So I left work and was careful to open our front door. I knew that my bird was out of her cage and didn't need to try and chase her around. Lol. I get inside and walk to our bedroom. My wife tells me that she is crazy and I needed to choose between the bird and her. Now we had been married for 5 Yeats now and I didn't want to lose my wife. I also didn't want to lose my Bell either. So I found her in the kitchen and brought her back to her cage. My bird was definitely upset and I asked my wife what had happened? She told me she wanted to see the egg and that's when she freaked out. I said oh this egg and showed my wife. She said I can't believe that she didn't do anything to you. I said well we've been together her whole life and she loves and trust me. After my wife got a good look at the egg, I put it back and got so many kisses from my baby it wasn't funny. She passed away at 21 years of age when I was 31 years old. I never thought she would be gone from me and I haven't gotten another bird since. That was 22yrs ago.

I have two 29 year olds. I raised them from the egg so I know the exact day that they hatched.

@@alexv1190 Thirty one for the eldest bird. The other, slightly younger bird died last year. But, the oldest one is hanging on and still lively and knows that he is the boss; exept to me who he sees as his mother.

You forgot literal old person wrinkles just like us lol (noticeable around the eyes) and sagging / looser skin can be felt under feathers on legs when handling. I massage my old guys legs coz he has arthritis and he looks so blissed out from the surprise relief and walks around looking pleased with the result after. It’s adorable.❤

I got my first cockatiel from the animal shelter.Story goes he was with his owner over 25 years.She kept birds for over 50 years and left a grey parrot, a blue macaw, a cockatiel that I got and a cockatoo.

darker legs and feet... my cockatiel is at least 25, and his feet are dark grey and he has alopecia around his little wrinkly eyes! and grumpier! my grumpy little old manbirb

I have a young cocktail that is about five months old. It is definitely a male. He learned to say and play peek a boo and he does sing a lot! So, a baby bird does sing ❤😊❤ at least mine does 😅
